Woods' singles record is pretty decent, as is his WGC matchplay record. Just because he struggled to perform in pairs doesn't mean he doesn't have anything to offer.

He will also have knowledge of the venue that might add a further insight to what the players already know.

He's worth his place as VC, whatever Westwood's mind games might suggest.
