I ask because today i used very single club in my bag except my 4 iron. I honestly can't remember the last time i did use it.

My 3 iron is one of my strongest clubs, hence i think i always reach for that first without even considering the 4 from 180-200 (ish!) yards.

I'm currently looking for a nice low flying hybrid so may ditch the 3 iron and start using the 4 instead, that's what got me thinking about the post title.

So do you use yours?

I carry a 4 iron and then 3 hybrid...
I wouldnt be without the 4 iron...Off the tee and fairway its a gem...
Out of the rough it can be a bit flakey.

yeah, usually off the tee on a par 3 though, not a fan off the fairway. usually use my 3 or 5 hybrid of the deck.if its a long hole, il usually drive it, then mid iron to leave a wedge onto the green as my long iron play isnt consistent enough to easily land on the green

My 4 iron is a Mizzy Mp Fli-Hi - looks a bit like a chunky Cavity back club. Goes for miles. easy to hit.

It's probably the one club in the bag that you may have to prise from my cold dead hands........

Same as the kid. :D

I think it helps that I use mine on 2 x par3s and as the tee-club on two x par4s. Not an option to leave it out.

I'm another who has no fear of the 4I and its my longest iron. I use a 3H as it fits better for the par 3's we have and gives me more options out of light rough.

Yeah we have a few longish par 4's and off the tee on a couple of longish par 3's. That said I dont mind using or hitting all my irons.

4 iron is my "go to" club. If I need to hit a fairway then the 4 iron is the club of choice. Probably the only club in my bag that hasn't had a flying lesson.

Yep.
My 4 Iron is my lowest iron & I use it quite a bit, we have a par 4 185 yard with a ditch running across the fairway, so for this hole it's ideal.
I also have a 3 Hybrid which gets the ball flying well with good distance, but accuracy is a problem with this club at the moment.

Definitely use my 4 iron every round - couple of holes where it is the perfect club off the tee to avoid hazards and driving is not an option. Also carry a 3 iron and will go to that if needed depending on conditions.

Think it depends on your course.

I use mine at least 3 times a round (1 longish par 3, another par 3 if the pin's at the back or into the wind and maybe on one of our medium par 4's)

However it just so happens that I hardly ever use/need my 8 iron.

I think i'm going to ditch my 4 iron and put in a 5 wood or 2 hybrid. I can't really hit it very well and it's basically the same length and loft as my current hybrid.
