Do You Go Out By Yourself?

Sometimes I prefer to play on my own when I am working on a certain aspect of my game or breaking in a new club as I can play two or three balls and not interrupt anyone else's game.

I play one my own quite often. Depending on my shift either before or after work.

I always seen to play well without anyone to witness it.

Long time ago I used to go out on my own a lot. One of the attractions of my club when I joined was that it is halfway between work and home - so I could call in and do a few holes when I fancied. Only done it a handful of times in 6 years. Can't say I really enjoy it any more.

I only ever really play on my own. My usual playing partner decided to play on his own after I started getting lessons. Last time I played a full 18 holes with what I'd call a serious golfer was in 2005. Most guys at my club prefer to sit in the bar and those who do venture out tend to never really say anything to you.

It get really boring playing on your own, but one of the annoyances with having a playing partner is trying to get suitable times to play. It's just easier going it alone.

Play golf on my own most of the time but thats due to none of my mates playing the game. Met up with a couple of forum members recently so I have people I can go round with every now and then. Once I leave the navy next year I'm hoping to get a membership at a club so hopefully I'll meet more people then.

I don't mind playing on my own but sometimes it can get a bit boring and it also helps having an extra pair of eyes to help look for my ball in the rough!

Most of my playing friends are and were casual nomads, and I was and still am a member of a club, so finding actual friends to play with is difficult, although playing with my mates are always the most enjoyable rounds. At my last club, not having any particular friends there, I just used to join a members 2 or 3-ball and play with them, which was both good and bad. If you don't know the fellows, it's a lucky dip as to whether they are sound or complete swines, and I have to say the majority were nice blokes. My new club is much more local, and in the village where I work, so I was really considering having a few solo rounds, and now I know from this thread that they are so popular, I most certainly will.

People I've spoke to (casual and nomad golfers who play once a blue moon, and who have an inflated view of the own popularity) have ridiculed and questioned the point of having a solo round. I mentioned that in every other individual sport, players practice on their own. The sports I play are certainly focussed around solo practice, such as snooker, pool, darts, and I've even know people have a bowl in the cricket nets, or face a bowling machine on their own. You'd go for a session at the driving range on your own, so why not have a practice round? The positives certainly outweigh the negatives.

I have just recently joined my first club and have been playing on my own at least once a week.to try and break 100 consistently.

the main problem im finding is that everyone lets me play through which then turn my round to pot as I end up trying to rush so not to hold the people that have let me play through up
