This is now leaving a bad taste to many watching , playing etc etc , Did you see the Man U Mexican striker diving yesterday in the match Vs Newcastle , shocking attempt to cheat , they must have a training session for this part of the game , Time they have a committee to sit down after the weeks games and deal with this need to cheat .....bans and fines and if caught again a double fine and ban ............what do you think about this ....................EYG

This is just one aspect they could take from rugby. Panel sits once a week to review any incidents from the weeks game with a clear set of rules as to punishments (ok rugby not so clear on this part lol). Hernandez dive yesterday was utterly embarassing, doesnt help that the ref clearly knew it was a dive as didnt give the penalty but didnt book him either. Other areas to sort are shirt pulling/blocking at corners/free kicks and walls never 10 yards (and walking closer once set, ref should just score a line and if any cross it before the ball is struck then a retake 10 yards closer)

Football has had many a year to sort issues like this but clearly has no intention to clean the game up and improve as a spectacle, as long as those involved are making millions thats all that they deem important

I believe Greg Dyke tried to get this started, but it got 'kicked into touch' by vested interests - including the Referees group!

I'm all for post-match disciplinary action - for at least this vile cheating! 1 or 2 Match ban outside other Discipline streams.

I think it's too late.
I think too many players have begun to play the game in this manner as the standard that they can't change.
If Ref's played by the rules they could give a penalty every time there is a corner..
How many times have I heard the "experts" say, after a wrestling match in the box, "if that happened anywhere else on the pitch it would be a free kick" - so why isn't it a penalty when it happens in the box..?It's pathetic.......

The only way to punish, assuming that they brought it in, would be to dock points. Suspending a player for 2 or 3 games isn't going to make much difference but docking a point for every offence would.

According to the pundits if a player feels contact he is "entitled to go down" regardless of the strength of that contact and yet these are the same pundits who complain the authorities are legislating physical contact out of the game.
Wish they would make their minds up.

The utter worst of it is when they say a player "earnt a penalty" no he didnt he cheated! There again I very rarely have sound on when watching sport on tv these days, the utter tripe that most comms think you want to listen to beggars belief

It's hard to prove they dived on purpose etc - remember Eduardo was suspended for 3 games for diving but appealed and won because they couldn't prove it

Part of the issue there was there was no set rule in place to punish retrospectively. Introduce the rule and make it clear what its being based on and plenty will be very clear cut decisions, starting with yesterdays lol

Can you see them having the bottle to introduce the rule ?

Nope not at all (see my earlier post, all they care about is the money they are making), hence mine, and a lot of guys I know, have greatly reduced interest these days

Totally agree in the reduced interest.

The problem is clubs fill those empty seats with day trippers paying 200 quid for a ticket plus a meal.

Why is that a problem?

And surely simply supply/demand.

I strongly suspect there'd be complaints if they didn't take advantage of that income stream!

Because it reduces the atmosphere within the ground. Some clubs are pricing out your average fan.

In front of me the other week was a lady on her IPad playing some game whilst her hubby was taking pics all game.

Pah! Living in Dreamland - but that seems to be appropriate for a Liverpool fan (unfortunately)! I believe most top think Fans are a necessary evil - and have done so for years! I admire(d) Mike Ashley for his approach!

Admire Ashley ?!

Well that says it all. Its all about the money for him

No chance. I think part of the problem is that it is almost inevitable that the player that should been dealt with then has a big influence on the game so will there then be appeals for retrospective points awards/changing of results? Although the cheat is retrospectively dealt with, he & the team have still prospered, so it's easier to look the other way than address this issue.

Totally agree that it is spoiling the game and causing a loss of interest, but I think that action has to start with referees applying the existing rules of the game, including the wrestling at corners, even if it does result in a few inevitable mistakes.
