Yup actually put my car in a ditch this morning!

On the way into work I clipped a bollard marking a stream that was close to the road. Over the years the verge has eroded away and there is less and less grass to stick the bollard in, almost none from what I saw.

I of course did a U turn and came back to move it from the road back to where it was... but as I approached and stopped part of the road gave way beneath my wheel and my car slid into the ditch!

Thankfully a passing motorist in a whalloping great 4x4 extracted me, it was just one wheel over the edge and no damage.

On inspection it was the angle of the road and some verge that gave way! Apparently it had happend to a bin lorry just weeks before. The local resident who often cleans up after people like me go in the ditch now has more evidence for the council (which they have plenty!)

Between Lochgoilhead and carrick is a small single track road. As me and the wife was heading along another car came hurling round a blind corner my instinct was to swerve car went right in a ditch practically up on its side.

I managed to get a farmer to tow me out and I joked with him that loads of folk must do this. No apparently.

I did not feel so bad when I heard stories from other locals who had done a similar thing in the same place, add that to the bin lorry I think something needs to be done. Anyway a thankyou card is on the way to the home of the nice couple who helped me out with the rope.

About 6 weeks after buying my 320 coupe my mate borrowed it. Cold night of about -4*C. Two hours later he hones to tell me he's put it in a ditch - on it's side! He hit ice that was right across the road caused by the steam from the local Ethylene plant settling and freezing.
He got out pretty much unscathed (he had to climb out of the passenger window) and then proceeded to fall down the ditch and nearly break his ankle.
