Disappointed by McIlroy

The Internet mafia have tried Rory and found him guilty on the basis of one minor incident. Take him away and throw away the key :mmm:

A mate of mine played at St Andrews a few years ago, mid winter and Rory was there having lunch with his GF of the time, apparently he was an absolute gent and lovely company. I am not a big fan, but everyone has an off day dont they ! ??

Did he go off perhaps and come back?
Normally he is pretty good, if he didnt though, that is a bit off.

Not that I'm aware of. He disappeared after leaving the 18th green. I left about an hour after that and hadn't heard anymore about him. He really didn't seem to be enjoying himself that much when I saw him though. Very much like other things were on his mind.

Don't get me wrong. I love to see him play and have heard things about how nice he is. Apparently paying for someones Birthday meal and drinks in the Habour while he was down there last year. But the amount of disappointed faces on little kids I saw yesterday was like someone had told them Santa was dead. Everyone can have their off days but unfortunately for him being so high profile certain things are expected by the fans.

I hope it was a one off and we see a more positive side of him but when compared to the other big names his attitude didn't appear to stack up.

Pat Jennings was a real gent and probably gave the most legible signature of all. Seemed really relaxed and was playing quite well. If he was nervous he certainly didn't let it show.

I said it before but the most impressive with attitude to fans was Keegan Bradley and Simon Dyson. Dyson coming through the crowd was quite funny. Sort of stop, sign, put arm round someone, smile for the photo and repeat up the line of fans. As much as I wish for a local winner it would be equally as nice for him to retain the Irish Open.

.

he's done it before, it's just maybe in his nature when he plays, look at Monty who is a surly so-and-so on the course but eloquent and extremely friendly off it.........
I do however think his PR people need to have a word as he is a brand now and is representing some major companies products

As they say
There are things worse than being asked for your autograph.
Not being asked for your autograph.

Maybees he was desperate for the loo, we don't own these players. I have found that all to often folk are very easily offended in the company of superstars.

I must say that I am not a great lover of young Mr McILroy and I think he thinks himself as the new Tiger. A lot to live up to but he is making a good start by ignoring his fans.

I wonder what people whould be saying if Tiger had commited such a crime???

Im really starting to go off Rory, he posted a silly comment on twitter about England when they where playing the other night, personally I dont feel after his current form (and his misses) he has any right slating any other sportsman!!!

Too big for his boots since the 1st major win ive found...

Admire his talent though.

Relax, everyone. Everybody has a day when someone perceives a slight, whether intended or not. Rory didn't commit murder or adultery.

As for twitter, it is wise to consider twitter comments in the same way as you consider comments made by a drunk mate down the pub. They are implosive and reactive and often made in haste.

Comparisons between Rory and Tiger are silly. Rory hasn't cynically built a marketing image on a fictional life story only to expose himself as a hypocrite and cheat by having more than 100 affairs and a few baby mamas and then claiming it was all an illness.

Spot on Ethan.

I see Rory is taking time out to do a Q&A session in the tented village today after his second round

* only fair we give good press as well as bad press

Just seen on his bfacebook page, that Bill Murray took time to pose with Rory in the clubhouse after one of his rounds. Wonder how Rory would have reacted if Mr. Murray had told him to foxtrot-Oscar....

He seems to have relaxed a little since his good lady arrived (i can see why he might be distracted). Wasn't pleased at the 14th today when he slammed his wedge into the ground after a poor chip though.
