walk in today because of flooded greens?

For only the second time in about 6 years at my club, the Medal comp. had to be abandoned this morning. The rain was lashing it down relentlessly and after just managing to putt out on the 6th we walked in. And not surprisingly hordes of others did the same.
I was fine with being wet - once you are wet it can't get much worse can it? But the greens were just impossible with so much water on them. Even trying to find relief was a waste of time.

Anybody else find the same?

I had a lesson cancelled today which was a downer. Went to the range instead but the rain was blowing directly towards the bays (isn't it always the way) and so I couldn't really get into it at all. Been looking online at some Srtomberg trousers and changing my myjoy designs.

We had a competition called off last year under similar circumstances. We got to the 4th (I was actually one under my handicap) and had a 10 foot birdie putt. I hit it pretty hard and had a six footer on the same line for par. I think it went halfway. My partner had a downhill putt and couldn't get it past the hole and so we could it a day. We were one of the first groups out so we told the greenkeepr who drove out to the 4th took one look and fired off the klaxon to close the course

No, I got called into work before the rain kicked in, though. Annoying, as I had just parred the first and hit a perfect tee shot on the second. Sort of glad my round didn't get ruined by rain a bit later though. If I had been doing well at about the 9th and had to go in, I would have been even more miffed.

No but it really chuked it down last night so there was lots of standing on the fairways. Ours not the best draining but I didn't get any real bad lies or plugged balls and even with all the H2O some of the greens wouldn't bite (although my bloody roof leaked).

Had enough rain to wet the patio and that was it. Bit windy but dry

We had a stableford called off because of heavy rain which flooded the greens in early April, the thing was that my group had finished just after it had started to rain and I had posted 39 pts.
By the time I had showered and got into the members lounge the greens were flooded and word had come through that one of the older members had slipped on the Montgomerie course and had a double compound fracture, so the right call was made but too late for him.

Not seen any rain here for a while now... mind you the course could do with a bit, the greens were like car-parks today, no pitch marks to speak of.
