Did I Hear That Right?

Apparently, when we end up with 'no deal' there will be another referendum when the vast majority will vote remain so in answer to your question.....yes we will do as our masters command.
^Apparently^

Something to do with Scottish farmers or summat ain't it?
I thought it was for the Kids in Scotland so they don't have to go to school in the dark or come home in the dark. Safety I think.

It’s all about safety and ensuring it’s light for when the kids go to school in the morning , Delc used to complain like mad about it but it seems a very valid reason imo - making sure it’s Light in the morning to ensure the kids are safe for me would override any other reason I could think off

I hope this comes off. more daylight for us all !!!!

The amount of daylight doesn’t change - just when it starts and finishes , if it stays the same then it will start getting dark at 5 instead of 4 and be light from about 7:30-8 - what it would ruin is people who go out and play golf early in the morning will now have to wait a bit

The EU will recommend all EU countries to leave the clocks alone, to keep timing constant and for more light in the evenings. The EU parliament will likely pass it but it will then go to each individual country for them to make their own mind up. It can not be forced onto a country, they have to agree to it. This is a recommendation based on a million people survey on the subject.

Personally, I am all for it. I think the current system is daft. Bring it on.

Maybe you're right, I thought I'd heard the farmers thing on Radio 5 a few years ago but I'm probably wrong . Where's Alexa when you need her

It wouldn't bother farmers. They work according to daylight hours in the winter anyway, what it says on the clock is pretty irrelevant to them. The one that is always thrown out is for kids in northern Scotland going to school in the dark. The counter argument is that drivers are more alert in the morning than afternoon / evening and so better that the kids walk to school in dark mornings than dark afternoons. Equally, the benefit of light evenings would cover a greater number of the population of the UK than the possible negatives of dark mornings.

There once was a Private Members Bill in parliament, the motion was to stop changing the clocks. The motion won the vote but there were insufficient members present to turn it in to law.

Living in the West Country the feeling is that Tourist industries/ business's (on which there is a very large dependency) would gain £millions by not changing the clocks or even changing them to give two more hours of light in the evening.

If it's dark in the morning, clearly I run over loads of kids on my way into work. Same again in the evening. Or, it makes no difference at all to road safety, as it's always dark somewhere. For me, GMT + 1 would work pretty well. GMT less so.

But, if this is all the Eurocrats have to worry about, bin them off quick time. There are other more pressing issues. Surely.
