Did anyone see Ernie Els shoes at Wentworth?

I think you have to say performance fabrics work or else we'd all be sweating like a sweath thing on a hot day in sweaty town everytime we have to don the waterproofs. A lot of these now wick away the moisture and do keep ups dry(er) on the inside as well as the out. As for performance fabrics in shirts, if its 30 degrees and sunny and I'm carrying a golf bag then there ain't a fabric in the world that will stop me getting hot and sweaty. Some arguably deal with it better than others but hot and sweaty is still hot and sweaty.

Anyway this dirgresses. These shoes aren't new and are just a new take on an old design and like all new fads (designer belts etc) they will experience a spike of popularity over a season or three and then something new will come along. Of course it's how they make their money. For me, if people are happy to waer these new style shoes and have the money to buy them what is the big deal. No different to me looking like a peacock (think it has the pea in front) in my loud myjoys

Agreed. I'm not saying they don't. When talking about shirts though, they are really helpful for a game like squash when I might lose 2-3lb in a tough match and sweat a great deal with physical effort to the point of exhaustion. But I never properly sweat playing golf as it doesn't take any effort. It's like walking to the shops.

Anyone stating that a shirt fabric affects their game of golf positively is delusional in my view.

You are not playing it properly then - or, at least, too slowly!

I've some 'traditional' fabric shirts but the other day broke out a 'new' Woodworm cool-fabric one. The difference was enormous and the golf was made even more pleasureable, so it can affect a game.

Els looks like an old man as he shuffles around the course anyway, so the Streets (or whatever) may be appropriate. Wouldn't have taken up the offer to 'discuss this in the car-park' that he was rumoured to have suggested to one critic of The West Course changes though!

There are plenty of criticisms that can be levelled at me by members of this forum as I am often of a differing view to the majority. However, not playing golf properly and playing the game too slowly are definitely not in this category.

We should have a game Foxholer and you can see for yourself. I won't mind if you want to wear your PE plimsoles and Lycra cricket top either!

And maybe you get sweaty on the course because you are taking quite a few more shots than me? ;)

enough about Ernies old man shoes, and high performance non sweat fabrics

i have found the perfect pair of shoes for you snelly. (they do have spikes)

right up your street

Not bad! I bet they cost a fortune though!

My next game is at Worplesdon. I think they would tar and feather me there if I wore those!

Have you ever worn any "technical" garments?

Just ordered a pair of the Puma Cell Fusion Ice... You were right TheRod, only from the states and I've been told 4-6 weeks delivery... But I can live with that as don't need them right now.

good luck with them, hope they don't clash with your tartan trews!!:D

post a picture when they arrive, I wanna see them in the flesh (kind of)

Hope you remembered the different sizes in the States Greig !! They look like they may be tricky to clean.;)

Did you read my post? I wear them 4 times a week to play squash..

Sorry missed that, I meant for golf.

I play squash (and football too) so if you fancy a double header let me know......

afternoon all
our equipment guru has done some digging and discovered that Mr Els has been wearing Ecco since the BMW. He wore Tour Hybrid and Golf Steet Luxe at Wentworth. When won the BMW in Munich he wore Tour Hybrid & Biom Hybrid and has the three different styles on rotation
Hope that helps solve the mystery!
