Devolution

I'm not SNP but that bit in bold is ridiculous and not true. How have you formed that view? Holyrood has more SNP than others but through PR have a decent balance of all parties represented. Sturgeon didn't get a majority govt last time, needs the Greens to back her up like May does with DUP.

You must live in a bubble....

This is the only sort of news we get from Scotland. Nothing positive for the union...I don’t see thousands on the street shouting for the UK?

It’s because you come across as ignorant at best and a xenophobic at worst.

FU.

The other countries are the ones that are kicking off around England, it's all those that are xenophobic FFS !!!
I'm asking the question why hell England is trying to hang on to them.
If you cannot understand this then you are the one who is "ignorant"
Watch out for the EU elections. Will all those people be "ignorant" as well?

If all you do is pick on people who ask questions about why things are the way they are then you are the one who will hold up any chance of change.

Also, if the others have voted to stay in why then is:-

Nicola whining on about another referendum? Scotland voted to stay in the Union AND the EU. They want it all ways!!!!

The NI leader and her team, blocking every move to sort summat out, why not have a United Ireland and then they can stay in the EU, which is what they want. Surely that must outweigh all the other problems associated with making a United Ireland? Yes? Don't remember them having a vote on the Union.

Wales? Hmm,they are all over the place and really need some proper investment which they can get from the EU if they split off from the UK? Yes? Don't remember these having a vote on the Union issue either.
Errr...I think you might find the Scots voted to stay in the union BEFORE the EU referendum was even on the table ..yes??? Or should they have guessed in advance?

The NI situation is way above my pay grade but what I do know is it's above yours too if you think it's that straight forward,if so they would of sorted it years ago.. yes????

Wales, like the rest of the UK,yes including England!! have benefited for years from EU investment in all sorts of projects and obviously when this goes they are in for a shock.
But so are England this situation is a disaster whichever team your on ...yes??

I'm not bothered either way so long as people get what they want. However, you say "let them..." It shouldn't be England's choice to give, it should be Scotland's choice to want. I don't agree with the generational choice that was stated after the last referendum. If Scotland feels the playing field has changed and want to pose the the question again, it should be their choice to pose it. If Scots are fed up of hearing the SNP ask it, its up to them to tell the SNP to shut the ....

Jeez....and you talk about folk living in a bubble.
MSM and BBC virtually 100% Unionist supporting/slanted. Social Media mostly Independence supporting. Social media seems to be winning.
Mind you they do say that BBC Scots news actually gets fairer coverage in the English regions than it does in Scotland from it's Scots editors.

BTW there was a group of about 50 manky, foul mouthed Unionists/Rangers/Britain First/UKIP/OO/DUP types in George Square shouting horrendous stuff at the marchers. [Police did nothing] So bad I dare not post it up on here.
Estimates for the marchers ranged between 35,000 and 100,000. [don't ask] No incidents or arrests.
Couple of first aid situations caused by folk helpless with laughing to much at the Unionist 'protesters'.;)

JEEZ 2.....breaking news that Esther McVey is going to come along and save us all, UK is well and truly 'stuffed' now.

I am in favour of Scottish independence because it means we can finally set the clocks in England to suit the English and not the Scots.

Keep it nice guys please or the thread gets binned.

Everyone has an opinion,
if theirs differs from yours then accept that, argue the points but don’t resort to schoolyard insults.

Thank you

Wales doesn't seem to want "independence." All polls down here like the UK as it is, but there's quite a divide on EU Membership.. Council Tax has gone through the roof under Welsh Labour and the natives ain't happy about it. About 35% of Wales work in the Public Sector, that figure goes over half when you add those dependent on any form of incentives... and most of Monmouthshire and Gwent seem to work in England! Wales isn't really very viable on it's own. The EU also paid for Airbus to move 900 jobs from Newport & Flintshire to France in 2010 (inc mine!!) so locally, they are not huge fans of that.

A recent poll put dissatisfaction with devolution at over 80%. The Welsh Govt want to increase the number of Assembly Members... public opinion was very anti!

As an Englishman with a Home Counties Accent living here, I have had virtually no "anti-English" grief... they get a bit feisty during the Rugby, but it is largely good natured. I lived in Glasgow for two years and had massive extremes of reaction from considerable warmth, to violence! :-)

The UK has been around long enough for us to get used to it. Devolution was a great idea in someways, and surely local decisions are better, funny how the SNP wont some closer and some even further away! (maybe the racist undertone is only coincidental... partially joking!)

Yeah no offence, but if the English created an English parliament elected a nationalist government who never stopped banging on how everything wrong with England was the fault of the Scots you’d find yourselves being a bit resentful too.

Just think about your comment in bold. The UK pays more into the EU than it gets back, I guess you will agree with this. In this case how can the EU be funding any projects, I give you five apples and you give me three back, who is paying for my apples?

Does a man that repeatedly posts links to the Wings over Scotland website allowed to complain about someone else posting links to "slanted" websites? Asking for a friend. ;)

Do you not like to read/see balanced opinion in a free nation ?

I shall repeat ….the Scottish MSM and BBC are virtually 100% unionist supporting/slanted. The Scottish voters are certainly not 100% Unionist supporters. That is why the Scottish printed press and the BBC is not the first point of reference to any Scottish person with an open mind.
Newspaper sales are in freefall and people not renewing TV licences are widespread across Scotland.

This may come as a surprise to you but it is not just the SNP.
62% of my country voted to stay in the EU, and there are Scottish independence supporters from all of the political parties.

Gosh, the irony. If your 300 year struggle for an independent Scotland is won, why give it away the day after?
