I’ll be in UK for a short break next month I have found myself with some free time on Friday 20th June and wondering if I can sort a round at one of these courses. I’ll be staying halfway between these two clubs
Problem is I’m not lugging my golf clubs with me so I’ll need to hire & neither website says they do club hire (so I assume not)

Before I contact the clubs to find out, does anyone recommend/prefer one over the other? Or should I be looking elsewhere that’s close with club rental?

TIA

I’m a member at Dale Hill and happy to host you on either course there (Old course or Ian Woosnam). I’m not sure if we do hire clubs but I could ask if something could be arranged for a highly respected player! I would avoid Sedlescombe as it’s not a great place, despite what the owners think and try to portray.

Hi, that's very kind of you. I admit the Dale Hill website did seem to show that would be the better choice of the two
Not sure about the highly respected bit :p but it'd be good to know if clubs can be sourced, I suppose I just need a half set to be honest, its just a round to keep the rust away while I'm in England
Would you know this far in advance that you're available that day? I have family stuff to do at the weekend that's restricting me to playing on that Friday

Totally agree with Hacky, the Dale Hill courses are excellent, always enjoy playing there.

I live up the road from Dale Hill in Tunbridge Wells. Would definitely play one of the DH courses rather than Sedlescombe. Any chance I could jump in and make a 3 ball?!

Cool, It works for me if it works for @Hacky

Edit (although prob getting ahead of myself a bit since I don't actually have clubs sorted yet 🙃)

I’ve played both and much prefer Dale Hill (old course) always enjoyed playing there, I thought Sedlescombe was one of the harder courses I’ve played

I played at Sedlescombe a couple of years ago when they must have cut down nearly 100 trees, stumps everywhere.
They totally ruined a half decent course, and now it’s very much a Marmite place…..I’ve never been a fan of marmite!

I’ve never felt so unwelcome when I was looking to join my first club in 2023, I therefore took the decision (and one I’m happy to have done) that an extra 15 minute drive was what I needed to find my home club.

@Slab if you are right handed you’re in luck! Dale Hill doesn’t rent clubs but I had a chat with the pro and said he will put a set* together for you.

WWhat tee time would you and @hairball_89 ideally want? Also any preference to play the Dale Hill Old Course or Ian Woosnam course? Just to note a couple of greens on the old course suffered from winter damage and due to lack of any rain they are being slow to recover, though by mid-June they should be better🤞

*don’t know what sort of clubs they’ll be but I would think not expect the latest TaylorMade iterations 🙂

I’ve played both, happy to play either again and any times really! Whatever works for both of you, I’m in!

Great news!. Yes for right handed. Thanks for sorting that (y)

Re course and time
Best to leave the course choice to you, I'm just happy to get a round sorted
For tee time I guess that'll depend on availability but if I had a choice I'd prefer an AM start. I'll be staying about 11 miles from the course so not too far for commute so can tee off pretty much anytime
