My son's Sunday league football team has got to the final of their knockout cup, and it is to be held at Hinckley United's ground.

It has a capacity of over 4,000 and the team have been given 20 free tickets.

That isn't the daft part, although I think they should be given a few more than that.

The daft part is that the players have to use those free tickets to get in!!!

They have a 21 man squad, so even though they are only allowed 15 names on the team sheet, if the 6 that aren't selected all want to go to watch, one of them has to pay to get in.

Any thoughts? Is this normal and I'm the one who needs a reality check?

It's only £3 to get in.

He's actually just walked in now, that's why I'm still up.
An innocent night out with his brother and a mate and they end up at the hospital and get home at 4am.
Not the best preparation ever!

Aaaah... The joys of parenthood... Still being up at silly o'clock waiting for the safe arrival home...

Without knowing what level of footie your lad is playing at... I'd have thought his club would've covered any costs for the squad to get there and get in...

I am the President of my local club and we have around 10 teams of kids and adults. We have had several cup finals this year with the adults teams and I have had to pay to get in them all. The leagues down our way generally say that everyone has to pay on entry and they will give back enough money to pay for all players and subs plus a certain number of managers, trainers etc - I never get my money back!

I don't begrudge paying to get in, I just thought it was odd that the players had to have tickets as well.

They won, 2-1, and my son scored both goals.

A bitter-sweet day because as soon as I'd got home I was off to see the poorly one.
