Apparently my recent cataract op on the eye that, earlier this year, had retinal detachment surgery has now developed cystoid macular oedema, it only occurs in about 1% to 3% of cases and has left the eye pretty poor. Im due to start taking two different eye drops, 4 times each per day for 3 months and the sucess rate is pretty good my consultant reckons.

It doesnt help my golf that one eye has 6/6 vision and the bad one has 6/19. I just wonder if anyone has had this issue and did it repair satisfactorily ?

Any info would be helpful

Never heard of it but I hope everything works out for you

Thanks Homer. The prognosis is good but i just wondered if anyone had played through it and how it went. It, in simple terms, is a swelling at the back of the eye which distorts the central part of the retina causing poor focus and some odd vision. I suspect some of the usual suspects at the RCP meet may look better than usual!

Been down Notts tonight with a Bessie pal and his Missis. Had quite a few holidays with them. Anyway he ended up having a cornea transplant a couple of years ago. Said the pain he was having at times with his eye was out of ten, eleven. He said he could of pulled it out with a cork screw. Now got black spots in his vision, but the pain has gone. Will be on drops for the rest of his life and disappeared twice to put them in.
vision is better than it was and is ok with his vision in his other eye. Good luck with it me man.

I feel for him and, of course, there are always people worse off.

Had to look it up, no pun intended. I went through something similar in the early 90's. Small 'pockets' of fluid build up. I was give the option of either injections in the eye or the drops - tough choice. Took the drops option, and after about a month it disappeared. Probably had it a couple of times since, cured by the magic drops.

Most annoying thing was the doc said no driving till he gave the all clear.

I'm sure the drops will work Chris. Sounds pretty positive from what your consultant is saying so all best wishes.

I've needed a cornea transplant to sort my left eye out for years but haven't the bottle to get tf sorted.

There certainly are mate, my other half would trade places in a flash.

I hope that it all gets sorted for you Chris.

Thanks!

Lucky i have perfect vision in the other eye and that my consultant is a member at Royal Cinque Ports so understands my wish to get it right

I understand your dilemma Johnny. I wouldn't fancy that either
