Im an middle handicaper and i have custom fit clubs. Ok its more expensive but i know i have the most suitable clubs for me,, and you can see for yourself when testing how different weights effects how you hit the ball... i wouldnt hesitate at all and go for custom fitting at a real good clubmaker......good luck

There are several levels of C/F. At the top end, if you got an independent specialist, it might cost £50 or 100. But if you go to your local pro shop or, perish the thought, big store, they should fit you for nothing. That may be a more basic service than the all singing all dancing, but it will be about the choice of shaft, shaft flex, length and lie and grip size.

If your a member of club ask the pro if your ok with standard lenth and lie. I went custom fit from day 1 as i'm 6ft 4. imo, money at this stage is better spent on lessons. £500 worth of lessons will make you a better golfer than £500 worth of shiney clubs

I went to an independent guy. Tried all the makes and models I wanted and went for the ones that performed best. Of course the problem a fitter has is he can only fit for the swing you bring on the day so if you are having lessons or making swing changes it may have an impact further down the line

To start I'd go along to Traffird Centre Golf range have wander around shop and hit some demo clubs, be a fun couple of hours and all for the price of a range session.
After that you can then book a fitting depending on budget. Full range in NW from tourX in Warrington or Manchester performance centre, plenty of local pros and the big retailers such as AG and clubhouse,

Highly recommend getting custom fitted - local pro normally does it for free if purchasing the clubs.

Foregolf at Deeside is a very good outlet with all the leading manufacturers represented, my mate got fitted for a set of G25s this year and his handicap has gone from 15 down to 11.
I`m hoping to get down before xmas for a fitting myself.

Try true fit golf up in Widnes. It will be between £50-£100 depending upon how many clubs your being fitted for. There is no obligation to buy from them, and they dont do the best prices IMHO, but get the specs, then shop around.
At least there, it is on the partially done on the trackman, then on the driving range, so you can see the ball flights, and not just hitting into a screen.

In the NW i'd also recommend golfx in Warrington ( think that's the right name).

It is Tour X Golf. The fitter is Nick Hibbs. Yes you are correct it is a very good set up. Indoor only no range but still very good. The amount of shafts they have is mind boggling

It is. Nick is a good guy as well with a few interesting tales to tell!! Not cheap mind you but you get what you pay for. Brandon Grace is often in there along with a few of the NW footballers.
