picking up from Toad's Cumbernauld experience....can any one give any advice on where to get the best custom fitting...i'm looking for the broadest range with the "best" advice.

Lastly...anyone think there is any pro out there with the stones to beat Woods...? I think not.

St Andrews, definitely Hellbunker.

I was there a month ago, you can get "fitted" without having to buy a club etc.

I went up to get my Bridgestones checked over, got the lofts and lies adjusted and swing speed, launch angle etc checked out to see if the clubs suited, a retrospective fitting if you will.

Right I'm off to the bunker. As it said at the start of the two tribes single (showing my age) this is the sound of the air attack warning!!!!!!!

Place your bets. Which forum member is going to bite on the custom fitting hook first

HB, there are lots of good fitters out there and I would recommend looking for a demo day and getting them to fit you. There have been a few explosive debates on her regarding custom fitting so we tend to tread carefully ;)

You will however get the advice you are looking for here.

Steve,
where in ST Andrews...?

St Andrews Golf Academy. I can give you the number in the morning if you want it.
They're actually an "independent" fitting service, who are contracted by Ping, Callaway and Titleist (and I think TM) to fit their clubs.

Seriously HB,

run a search on 'custom fitting' (make sure you tick heading only), go out and buy a 24 pack of Becks, take a week off work,a gallon of eye soothing tincture and forgive the more jaded among us our sins. Apologies.

To put it into some perspective- in the short time ive been here i've rarely seen a topic create more scism and discord across such a range of contributors.

If you want to save yourself a trip to Sainsburys and the pharmacy I would humbly sum the topic as follows (ahem):

Some think it's the best thing since sliced bread
Some think it's the biggest rip-off since council tax
Most major manufacturers ,agents, re-sellers,suppliers and bespoke specialists offer a service under the broad church of 'custom fitting'
Opinion remains divided as to the quality of such purveyors respectively.
The range of cost of such services is as wide as it is deep.
Subjective results from such services is as diverse and contradictory as a referendum on the death penalty

(sculks away into the shadows)

oh dear I didn't know if I dared open the post for fear of getting caught up in a crossfire like man has never seen before. Glad I did, nicely summed up billyg. Am very impressed fellow forumers that a some what hot topic has been discussed without someone launching into a tirdae of abuse. Although I suppose its early in the week and we've just had the week end so people should be in a reasonably good mood. :D

It has been pretty calm and polite compared to normal standards on this topic. Still I suppose it will be OK as long as no one mentions the Ping Custom Fit Chart.

DAMN!!!!!!

GB72 quietly hides under the bed and adopts the foetal position until it all blows over.
