I went with a mate to New Malden today for a Mizuno fit, after it he decided he'd like to try some TMs just to compare, he seems to think he can use the trackman or whatever it was reading to give him a rough idea on other clubs, can he? as ive read clubs vary so much, just wondering for when its my time for a fit

I don't think so IMO.

Having been fitted this week myself, the data (spin rate and ball flight in particular) was vastly different for different heads from the same manufacturer fitted with the same shaft even!

It could give an indicator as to what shaft is likely to be about right, but thats about all. We spent a couple of hours or so fine tuning the shaft and clubhead selection to give optimum spin, flight and dispersion.

Why say no then explain why it does exactly what he asked?

I think there is some value in doing this, greater if you fancy a Mizuno club, of course, because the head dopes play an important role in the launch and spin, but swingspeed and estimates of tempo etc obtained from the SwingDNA device are independent of the head, so you will still learn something.
