I'm looking for 3 new wedges as my old ones are a bit worn now.
How many of you have been custom fitted specifically for your wedges?
If I recall when I got fitted for my irons I was told just to use the same shaft in my wedges which was S300 shafts.
American golf have basically offered me my 3 wedges for one brand new wedge so I'd only have to pay for 2 but I think they will just be off the shelf wedges.
So bearing in mind wedges a very seldom hit hard would the difference in shaft be noticeable ? Should I do the trade in or go and get specifically custom fitted for wedges?

For wedges I had a great experience with Iain Clarke of Icy golf, he's based near Leicester.

There are several positive reviews of his services on this site, so have a read through those.

I was very happy and came away with 2 wedges from him.

Wedges are clubs like any other, custom fitting should follow your irons for feel. But it isn't a necessity. Get an idea from your local pro then order them at AG, if they give you the opportunity to?

How dinged up are they? Seen several companies on Facebook that do refurbs including regrooving and the results are very good. One that showed complete process had vokeys looking brand new when prior had been rusty old thing. Seen one today and was £60 for the 3 wedges

They aren't to bad, the 56 sand wedge is th worst where continual contact with the sand has opened up the iron and with them sitting over winter it's gone fairly rusty
What's the company's names? The regrooving of them could be an issue legality wise but I doubt anyone would ever check them.

I was fitted at the titleist place near st. Ives for my vokeys last year.

I don't think they put much credence into choosing the right shaft as they don't have interchangeable ones in their demos. He just said with go with standard or for the sake of a fiver go with the same as my irons.

Where they do put the emphasis on fitting is in getting the right lofts for yardage gaps, and bounce/grind for your style of play. As well as hitting from the bay on a launch monitor you get the chance to try different grinds on a grass short game area.

I wouldn't call getting fitted for wedges the be all and end all, but it's worth doing imo just for the potential small edge it might give, and also for peace of mind that you have the right clubs.

2nd that, his service is second to none and his experience working with Cleveland wedges will be more then most. The tour grinds he does are waaaaaay better then the generic type you get on OEMs. I wouldn't buy any other wedge but Icy.

The one I seen today on Facebook was golf irons UK. I couldn't be sure but I am guessing they would be craftsman who would be aware of legal and illegal grooves so should be fine.
