CSS again - sorry

Forget about par, that isn't really relevant. The calculation for CSS is done from the SSS and the scores returned by the field on that day. CSS can go down by one stroke or up by three before it becomes a reduction only competition.

Thought I would resurrect this rather than start a new thread.

Does CSS now take into account everyone in the field, including cat 4 players?

I ask because for 2 weeks running now our comps have been a CSS 3 under par! SSS is 66 and CSS us usually that too but on occasion goes to 67 but has also come down to 65 lately a lot.

How many would it take to miss buffer for it to go down like that?

Thanks

Yes it includes cat 4 and the % answer is set out in reply #3 to this thread.

Your 'stats' sound bang on - many course recently, where additional run on the fairways is a help not a hindrance, will have seen the course play easier, especially for relatively high handicap golfers who benefit most from courses playing short.

Cheers Duncan, yea I saw the stats in post 3 so just checking whether they applied here too.

Your theory makes sense too, so thanks for the explanation. It's bloody frustrating though!
