had loads of trips there mainly Thompson it’s a great way to travel.
Always boarded at Palma Majorca.
The journey from the UK can be , let’s say a little rough if your unlucky.
Flying to Palma gets you there 24 hrs quicker.

I always go on the bike rides of the ship as you see loads instead of just the town where the docks are.
She stays on sun beds. I can’t do that.

Watch what you eat the food is awesome and plentiful unless you hit the gym your trousers will be a bit tight when you get off.

Just a warning if you go sightseeing don’t be late they go on the tide and will leave you behind.

Some of my best hols especially with the kids it’s fantastic.

Agree with the above, if you can be sure of getting a suitable flight to Palma direct ! and in time for your ship sailing , go for it.
We went with Royal Caribbean using their recommended KLM flight from Glasgow VIA Amsterdam.
It took us 6 hours +, just to get to Palma.
But the cruise , service, entertainment was first class, take loose clothing you'll need it,:o just watch out for pick pockets around Naples :o

almost any cruise will beat a hotel , but research well and sort your own itenary at ports of call , cruise excursions are expensive and ports of call are aimed at their convenience for those excursions , dont expect to just get of and have a walk about , because you could be in an industrial port in the middle of nowhere . Often you can get where you want to go with a taxi /train /bus etc . cheaper than ships prices . But go for it , if you have not cruised before you will love it . Most cruise lines have cut back in recent years and the quality has gone down , but it's still the best way to go (in my opinion )

Not strictly true, in the Med the ships leave port pretty much the same time every day, typically around 6pm. There are no tides to speak of in the Med.

To the OP...... a good way to see different countries but they are extremely touristy. You get a bus from the port into the local town, the locals try to extract as much money as possible from you then you get the bus back to the port. Repeat again the next day. However, the food is generally excellent and plentiful but drinks can be expensive. I went on Cunard last year and the cheapest bottle of wine on the list was £40!

Did royal caribbean around Baltic from Harwich and loved it.
Did Caribbean with P and O and loved the destinations but the RC ship had more wow factor.
P and O good and functuonal and 99% british with decent beer prices in £s.
RC similar but a lot more Yanks. Depending on where you cruise starts from. ( parents ) started 3 x from Southampton and stayed overnight at Ibis which is five mins from terminal.

I did Hurtigruiten from Bergen to Tromso mid winter loved it. Small, working ship. Stopped in some amazing places. Would do again.

However, I wouldn't go near the "floating blocks of flats" with 1000s onboard that I see from my office window in Southampton.

Each to there own!
