So it's renewal time at the club, and they have introduced for the first time this year a 3% charge for using a credit card to pay the fees. Part of the justification is that "other clubs are doing it", so I thought I'd ask.

Does your club charge such a fee, and if so how much?

Cheers

3% seems higher than the genuine charge. I would ask if there is a bit of profiteering going on. Otherwise there is a fee/charge to the CC company so it only seems fair that the person gaining from the use of it covers that cost.

Internet bank transfer - bosh, job done - no charge.

But also no delay in paying, no balance transfer that you can spread over 12 months. I don't know the fees at North Berwick but some of these southern boys pay an arm and a leg for membership subs. We are very lucky up here.

All very true (including the lucky bit :)) but spreading it over the year by holding the balance on a CC is a very expensive form of credit.

Unsure about a CC fee but ours operates a direct debit fee. Its £50! So fee's 750 pay it over 10 months and they charge you 50 quid. But don't think the club gets all of it because its a separate company doing it.

pay on cc, then get a new cc with 0% on credit transfers, transfer credit over, pay it off over the year, repeat next year and so on !;)
