and really looking forward to it.
My mate Paul (who is a member at Bearwood Lakes) has invited me to play in the "Libby Challenge" Charity Day there tomorrow. Arrive 10.30 for registration, 11.00-12.00 exhibition of trick shots from some guy with a wobbly driver, spot of lunch and then an 18 hole Betterball Stableford competion in the afternoon.
Host of "celebrities" playing including Ray Clemence, Ossie Ardilles, Ricky Villa, Tiff Needle, some fat bloke from Dalziel & Pascoe, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Willie Thorne and a few others. Paul is defending champion from last year, where he and his partner each won a brand new set of irons (Srixon) from the pro shop, so not too much pressure on then....
Back to the hotel to change and then an evening "do" with the wives in attendance so must be on my best behaviour.
Staying over in Reading and then another game around Bearwood on Sunday with Pauls brother David (who plays quite a tasty game off of 9) to try to get the tenner back that he narrowly won a few weeks ago. The Missus is caddying for me, so I won't even have to roll my own fags!!
Weather forecast looks superb and I've got my two outfits pressed and ready, with a red shirt put aside for Sundays game.
Really looking forward to it and will make a nice change from working on Saturday and listening to two 12 year old twin boys whinging and whining on Sunday.
:D :D :D :D :D :D

After your belt dilemna @ Whittington Heath and now this Smiffy??............think you may be watching too much Gok Wan!!! :D

Not envious - much!!!

Enjoy it Smiffy - and watch out for that 14th!!

My record is one under for the two times I've played it so it hopefully shouldn't hold any particular demons for me.
But it's a shotgun start, don't know which tee we are off first. I'm hoping it's not that one for the first swing of the day

Well, what an absolutely fantastic week-end. The course was set up immaculately, with the fastest greens I have ever putted on. Glorious sunshine for both days, and I've really caught the sun.
The main event on Saturday was a betterball Stableford played off 3/4 handicap, I was playing off 9 and my partner 10. We started off fairly well and were going great guns until the 8th, when with my partner out of the hole I managed to three putt from not too far away to only pick up one point on a par 4 where I wasn't shotting. We then proceeded to only pick up 3 points from the following 3 holes where we really should have done better. We finished the round on 39 points, and were knocked into 5th place on countback. 41 points won (brand new set of Cleveland clubs each from the pro shop) 40 points was second, and 39 points was 3rd & 4th. So all in all a great day, but could have been so much better. The day was rounded off by a great evening "do" in the clubhouse where far too much drink was consumed, and Bobby Davro entertained. Jeez, he was funny...haven't laughed so much in ages.
A few piccies of the day......
