Courses that you'll NEVER want to play again?

Richmond Park is a load of rubbish. Too many people and unkempt greens. Utter rubbish even if it is cheap.

Lydd GC, Kent....Goat track

Wellshurst GC, East Sussex....like playing on a football pitch

Avisford Park GC, West Sussex...all it needed was a few windmills, some rickety rackety bridges and a castle to complete the illusion.

Three courses I wouldn't re-visit even on a freebie with lunch thrown in.

i'll never play the lyndoch course at murrayshall again. it was in generally poor condition, has a couple of very "strange" holes and it was the longest round of golf i've ever had the misfortune to play - 6.5 hours!!!! with a hangover!!!! There was some society outing in front of us and the course ranger and pro couldn't give a stuff how long they were taking.

Wouldn't mind a bash at the actual Murrayshall course though.

I play Ivinghoe quite often after work and whilst it's far from being my favourite course that I have played (not that I've played many)I wouldn't say it's bad enough not to want to go back. Perhaps I secretly want to find some of the (possibly hundreds of) balls that I have lost there and that's why I go back...

Played Stockwood Park in Luton last week and thought it was crap, the actual course was OK but I just didn't enjoy the experience of playing there. There was a six ball two groups in front of us and most people were going round in jeans etc. I'm the polar opposite of a "golf snob" so it annoys me that I can make the effort to dress (reasonably) smartly and they don't! :)

Muni courses don't have to be like that, Little Hay is actually very good.

Ormeau park in Belfast, never played the place well ever, upturned dish greens, iffy greens andpine trees obscuring par three greens with OOB along quite a bit of the course too. The first tee has a cage around it (to protect those teeing off and prevent the clubhouse getting pebbledashed)
and it aims you down a horrible line, they then went and plonked a pond in front of the green so at best you can hit a 4 iron then in the summer a short pitch onto a rock hard green with OOB shortly behind it.
I cant even find any pics of the course online, google maps shows the cage on the first tee though. Never again.

Forester Park nr Dunfermline.
They should have kept it as farmland. stupid contoured greens, hairy slow & fast! crap drainage. just still a few fields in general. But it is a 'Championship' course.... 'Apparently'! :D

Gosforth just outside Newcastle the course was decent enough but have never been treated so badly any other place we've been. There was 12 of us and we couldn't get anything to eat when we came of but a club match were getting tucked into a nice steak pie. They weren't interested at all they gave us 1 bowl of chips whoopdee do, we spent a few quid behind the bar as well as we'd pre booked the taxis back so were kind of stuck there, would never go back there.

Westhill, starts ok, driveable par 4, long downhill par 3 that only needs a wedge, good 4, then another driveable but tricky par 4.

However it then just becomes two massive fields with up and down holes.

Played it about 5 times, but the last time we were in an Open, all three of us had NRd by the 9th, we looked at each other - 'anyone want to walk in?' - a unanimous and no thought required yes saw us all doing what I never do, and walked off the course.

That was about ten years ago, and I've never been back, and never will.
