Hi all, looking for some inspiration..

Its my wifes 30th this year, she has suggested!!! : we go away for a night with a group of friends to a hotel for golf and spa.. will be 12 of us, 6 blokes for golf and 6 womenz for spa day.. Can anyone suggest decent hotel/Spa with a golf course..

Apparently the most important thing is a nice hotel and Spa, i have been advised its not all about the golf! while i dont want to play on a goat track, i am open to suggestions.. So who's wives and significant others have decent reports of golf resorts within say 90 minutes of newbury?? must let hotel guests play on a saturday morning too...

Current short list is Celtic manor and castle combe..

Depending on distance you want to travel, MacDonald resort at Aviemore has a fantastic Spa facility and is attached to the Spey Valley course which I found to be very good (long and testing).
Wife and I go there at least once a year as it is a very nice place. Good food, good accommodation and value prices can be had.

Thanks Greig, bit past my 90 mins from Newbury though.. Just... that's the kind of recommendation i want though! just not quite that far away...

carden park ? me mams been the spa and liked it , heard its got 2 decent tracks , im meant to be going in march

Would East Sussex National be about 90 mins from Newbury? Worth a look, although the spa isn't massive.

Celtic Manor would be lovely for both spa and golf; possibly the best. Plus there's a great clay pigeon shooting area a short drive away if you get bored of golf or spas.

BREADSALL PRIORY 2 nice tracks a good spa for the ladies and great food and rooms are top notch and not full of scumbags unlike CARDEN PARK that seemed to let anybody use the pool last time i was there, convinced some were from the caravans parked in a field down the road!!!!
