Being up north these last few days seeing the family so I arranged a few games of golf with my brother.
He's a member of Saltburn by the sea GC, a links course for the first 6 holes then parkland for the other 12. Distancing 5744 yrds off the yellows suggests a short course but it makes up for it with narrow lines, fairway bunkers and some tricky greens.
The course was in great condition and with some tough par 3's it was a great challenge overall. (220 yrd up hill 12th.)
The highlight for me was the closing hole. Par 3 213yrd downhill back towards the clubhouse front door. It's a very steep downhill so in the morning with the wind off the back I threw an 8 iron at it and with it calm in the afternoon I hit a 6. Danger all down the left including car park which adds to the clubhouse watching. To add to the occasion I drained a 25foot birdie putt on the morning!
Overall a great course with plenty of challenges and a well designed, strategic course requiring a tactical brain to get round, especially early on.

Hope you manage to play it. I thought it was excellent. One or two of the greens needed a little bit of attention but the rest were spot on. Hope you enjoy it!
