Course record

I think ours is around 7/8 under by the club champ. He also shot a 64 this year even after putting a tee ball out of bounds. Ridiculous.

On another note, a friend of mine who plays off 18, in a medal, was once gross -2 after 11 holes. He finished +12.

Ours is either 63 or 64, depending on whether you trust the first one; or maybe 66 if we reset the records after course changes.

Ours nearly bit the dust yesterday but the lad bogeyed the last to equal it (66)

Think it was a nett 67 and he finished about 6th in the comp 😂 nett 64 won

Funnily enough we revised our course record following several "incidents of doubt" around the actions of the previous "record holder". There was enough doubt about the authenticity of the score (66 I think) and subsequent "golfer behaviours" that caused the club to rescind it as the record holder.

I guess difficult to divulge any details publicly, but sounds like there is some serious forum fodder behind this story...

On a side note.....is there an amount of change to a course that renders the old record defunct?
Just taking out a redundant or troublesome to maintain bunker is changing the course.....
We've removed quite a few lumps amd bumps on some front 9 holes but they weren't in a position to trouble anyone in with a chance of shooting we'll below par.

Ours were reset because we changed a par four to a new par three, so that certainly qualifies. Unless you significantly change a hole (i.e. brand new hole, or lose/add like 100 yards from/to one) then I don't think there's any need to abandon the old records.

No idea. They reset them when they changed a par 4 to a par 3 a couple of years ago. And they were recorded on IG, but that reset when our course ratings changed last year. So it currently says the course record off yellows is about 79. 😂

How does the course rating affect the record?

I understand how shortening a hole from par 4 to par would impact the record.

I just mean in IG - they added new 'tees' for the comps with the new course ratings, so on the website it automatically shows you the best scores under that new set-up. Or they did it wrong, I don't know.

Ours is 60 (par 70) set by Gary Emerson during a pro-am many years ago. Course length has changed since then. Amateur is 63 which I had the pleasure of marking. It’s the only way I’ll ever get my signature on a course record score card. 🤣
