I’m up in Aberdeen for 4 days in April playing Peterhead, Fraserburgh and both courses at Trump. I’m looking for recommendations of somewhere to play on the way home. Don’t mind taking a bit of a detour if the course is worth it, not up that way very often. Had considered trying to enter the ballot for the old course but not sure what the chances are in April.

Any recommendations of things to do, places to eat etc while up there also greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Only one answer

Cruden Bay
There are plenty answers.

Where is home? Do you watch somewhere near Aberdeen or further south? Are you doing A1 or A74?

What’s your budget for the last round?

Edit…
If you want to play the Old Course, you’ll have a higher chance in April than in high summer.

Jubilee and New course are both excellent. Kingsbarns or Dumbarnie also highly rated but expensive in Fife.

The title says Aberdeen area for recommendations 🤷‍♂️

Hence why Cruden Bay

If looking to stay in Aberdeen area after Trump, then Murcar and Royal Aberdeen are 10 mins away and both are great. If heading south, Old Course should be on shoulder season prices so worth trying the ballot as you've said. Carnoustie obviously not far down the road from Aberdeen either, they do reduced green fees in April also. Personal favourite of mine in Fife is Elie. If you're looking at a change from links, then consider Blairgowrie Rosemount on the way south.

Ooh, I’d forgotten about Elie. Great course…

Rosemount is wonderful. I’m playing Ladybank for the first time at the end of May. Hearing good things about there.

Sorry title was a little misleading, whilst I will be based in Aberdeen for the week I’m looking for suggestions on the way back home, ideally anywhere within 2 hours south of Aberdeen. I had looked at Cruden Bay, it’s still a potential as from what I’m hearing it’s worth going out of my way to play.

It’s very much worth going out of your way - imo it’s the best course around that area

But Ellie is a great shout
