Course Management

I'm not a low handicapper but I have been having the exact same issue. When I started I felt the need to hit a driver at every opportunity then the little devil on my shoulder started to go quiet as when I mishit they were a disaster.

Started using my 3 wood a bit more regularly and exactly the same thing happened as with yoursaelf that I sacrificed a few yards (not as many as I thought I would) but I started hitting fairways a lot more consistantly and then actually had a chance of playing a decent hole. It used to really wind me up trying to pull off the spectacular shot only to look like a twerp hacking in the rough just to get into a position where you could play the shot you wanted.

I went round tonight and on the 7th,8th and 9th (302yds, 376yds, 469yds) the last few times I have hit 6+ on each one so changed to a 3 wood and hit 2 pars and a bogey so definitely helped me being more conservative.
