County cards are available to anyone who is a member of a club affiliated to it's County union. Below is the link to the Dorset one which shows all the clubs that accept the card listed by county. Typically, it allows you to play the course at the guest rate instead of the visitor rate. You only need to use it once to save money.

The cards are usually available from your club or county secretary.

For those on here who are members at golf clubs in Lincolnshire they are free from your sec, we get ours at the end of Feb I think.

I know they used to cost £20 but now they are free :D

I had one last year, they are so cheap, its daft not to get one, the only downside is that not all courses let you use them.

Used mine a couple of times last year and will get one again this year. Another (small) downside is that a lot of courses only allow them on certain days and not on weekends.

I always carry mine, its free and I place my CDH number on the back of it so I don't have to carry a handicap certificate, I just give my CDH number when attending comps away instead.

Didn't want to start a new thread so will bump this one.

I was wondering if I have a Middlesex county card can I use it for a discount in a different county? I had assumed so but yesterday I played a course in Surrey and the pro wasn't sure if I was eligible for the discount. He ended up giving it to me anyway but I'd like to be sure next time I try to use it.

Most schemes have reciprocal arrangements with other counties, mine from Durham lists counties that participate in the scheme and both Middlesex and Surrey are listed on my card, not all clubs in the counties are in the scheme though, more info at www.bbogolf.com

We were told by our county rep at a recent meeting

You may find that they are free because clubs will insrease their annual subs by X amount to cover the cost. This was the case when i was in the Wiltshire Golf Union.

either way, i think they are a great idea and further encourage people to be a member of a golf club.

I think they said that the initiative is coming and being funded by EGU ? Not supposed to be any extra cost to anyone

Do you know this has never been promoted to my knowledge by our club despite being a host club and therefore applicable for members to apply. I think thats terrible and I'm going to apply and see what happens
