Scored 35 points on a very windy day in Newquay in the Wayne Perry Classic and lost on countback 
Still, came 1st out of the Newquay entertainers and won a trophy and prize so i have come away happy. ;0)

Eejit, i'm feeling your pain pal.
I came 2nd yesterday on countback too after scoring 40pts though it should've been more.
I've won society meetings on countback before so i've got to accept losing i suppose.

Whenever I have found myself waiting for a result on countback, I have always lost......about 7 times its happened to me

It's simply a way of deciding ties without the need for a play-off. Usually the best back 9 followed by back 6 if still same, back 3 and last hole will establish a winner.

It appears to favour strong finishers rather than fast starters but suppose there is no real 'fair' way to do it?

A few years ago I failed to win Captains Day at my club on a cardie - it went down to the last 3 holes, and the winner finished birdie, birdie, birdie. How unlucky is that? Never sniffed a board comp since.

Came second in this years club champs on c/b , he had better 2nd round score , seemed a little harsh at the time but hey thats golf I suppose
