I managed to attend a recent PING demo day, faintly interested in trying their new iron ranges - could I really use the S57's at my handicap - purely scientific interest, honestly!
Anyway, using TRACKMAN and the fitters own experience, we narrowed it down to the i15's as being the best for my swing. Out of interest we compared 7 irons from PING against my TM Tour Burner. The ping launched the ball 10 mph quicker, resulting in nearly 20 yards more distance, along with far greater accuracy and dispersion.
They felt brilliant to swing and really forgiving. I thought my current Tour Burners were fogiving but the i15's put these to shame.
In the end decided on regular shaft flex, standard length and Blue dot lie - slightly upright. The absolute bonus was that on the day they were selling the irons for £53 each - yes that's right £53!! not £80 as everywhere else. In the end it's costing me £200 to change my irons - bargain!!
Just have to wait for them to turn up now
So that's my 3 wood, irons and putter all PING. Where will it end??
BTW - please don't bar me from the forum for going to the PING side
