I managed to attend a recent PING demo day, faintly interested in trying their new iron ranges - could I really use the S57's at my handicap - purely scientific interest, honestly!

Anyway, using TRACKMAN and the fitters own experience, we narrowed it down to the i15's as being the best for my swing. Out of interest we compared 7 irons from PING against my TM Tour Burner. The ping launched the ball 10 mph quicker, resulting in nearly 20 yards more distance, along with far greater accuracy and dispersion.

They felt brilliant to swing and really forgiving. I thought my current Tour Burners were fogiving but the i15's put these to shame.

In the end decided on regular shaft flex, standard length and Blue dot lie - slightly upright. The absolute bonus was that on the day they were selling the irons for £53 each - yes that's right £53!! not £80 as everywhere else. In the end it's costing me £200 to change my irons - bargain!!

Just have to wait for them to turn up now

So that's my 3 wood, irons and putter all PING. Where will it end??

BTW - please don't bar me from the forum for going to the PING side ;)

John.

I have tried the i15 and the s57 and was very impressed with both, when I tried the s57 I had just bought my tour prefered irons so it was a no go for to change, but I am now tempted to go for the i15's, just not sure how much of a diff it'll make!

Tour Burners are not even close to being a forgiving club....ask Ralph Maltby :)

Get some Pings!!

Just did as you said. Good old Ralph rates the TM's as 520 and the i15's as 689. My initial feedback appears to confirm that he's right. The i15's are easier to use.

Why the hell do we chose to make this game harder by using the wrong gear?
Lesson learnt - hopefully!

I love the I15's and regret not getting them now when I got the R9's but I then got the TM TP's at a silly, silly price and love them so I guess it all works out. I think the I15's offer a great ball flight, good distance and are easy to hit, even the 3 iron

I think I'll be a TM whore for a while longer but should the need to swap irons again ever arise I'll definitely be looking at Ping first

I also changed from TM (Tour Burners) to Ping (G15).
Love them, they are so easy to hit straight and long.
I am keeping my TM CGB Max 3 Wood as I cant find anything to beat it (even ping can't make one like it). Also have ping putter. :D
