Morning,

Is it possible to convert a PW into a 9 iron by reducing the loft? The 9 iron is missing from the set I've been given and I can't find 1 to buy on the usual websites.

theoretically you can get the loft adjusted (on many heads), add an extension to the shaft and tweak the lie.....but I wouldn't bother.

you gain the 9 and loose the PW!

just learn to grip down the 8 if you need a 9

play it further back in your stance to deloft it, or just toe it in slightly keeping your hands ahead of the face.

What set is it? as ebay is full of single clubs plus maybe someone here has a spare.

It's a mizuno mx -100. None on eBay, but I've seen wedges on there so was thinking I could buy a PW and get the loft changed?

By gripping down the 8 iron, does that reduce the power and therefore the distance?

Whilst you could get the loft, lie, length and swingweight right... the overall clubweight wouldn't flow perfectly (which may or may not bother you) and the bounce would be way out.

Snainton have come back to me, £75 for the modern equivalent (jpx825 or EZ). Think I'll have to learn to play without it until I see a 2nd hand 1 somewhere!

I know I shouldn't moan cos the clubs were free but how do you lose a bloody club!
