I would like to connect my laptop to my tv to watch golf swings on the bigger screen.
Unfortunately, my tv was chiselled out by the romans so doesn't have a VGA port.
It does have the red/white/yellow sockets and an S video connection. I pressume these are no good ?
My laptop only has usb, VGA sockets so don't even think of HDMI.
Should I give up the ghost and get down to radio rentals and get a new set?

Any newish LCD/Plasma wil have a 15pin dsub video lead Bob, embrace the technology! :D

Using composite convertors etc will lose quality btw, get a new telly and be done with it.

Thanks for the help guys.
I bought one of the VGA cables and tried it on my newish tele in the kitchen. The picture was fine but there was no sound from the tele. is that the same with all VGA cables or did I buy a duff one?

From the Pro

"you could spend £150 on something called an HD Fury which will convert VGA to hdmi. Personally I'd buy a new tv for £400-500"

Bob I've got a Samsung full HD TV and an Acer laptop with HDMI. Watching live HD of shuttle launches etc. is fantastico. You know it makes sense as Dell boy would say.

vga doesnt do sound, you would need hdmi.

If the TV has red and white "audio line-in" you could run an audio cable from the headphone socket on the laptop.

I've done this alongside vga-vga
