We have some inter-club matches which are very informal and good fun. There are a number of team events where the best players are selected and we have a very active senior section playing numerous matches. As for playing individual comps, you'll only be "that" nervous on the first tee the first time. Personally I always like a little frisson of nerves in any comp as long as they don't get the better of me. The secret is to dive in. It's a great way to meet new members and most will be warm and welcoming and put you at your ease
