I'll send a 2fore1 voucher or similar to the first person to correctly guess the outcome of my KO match tomorrow morning.

I'm playing a chap who will be recieving 7 shots from me. Last year in the same competition I lasted 10 holes before shaking hands losing 10&8.

guess away

Clearly no one thinks you can win! :D

correct on both accounts. totally messed up, took 4 to get down from just of the green to only half the 5th then went oob next hole, oob again on the 11th, duffed my approach to the 17th,chipped on for 4 (25ft away)but he had a 4footer for a five so shook his hand.

Really must do better,

I might have misread that, but it sounds to me like you'd both taken the same number of shots but he was 4' away and you were 25' away so you gave it to him.

Is that right?

thats how i read it anyhow .. id a had a go at the putt , if ya do make it his 4footer gets hard , if ya miss pick it up & shake hands then alright

Hard lines but sounds to me like you'd pretty much talked yourself out of winning this based on last year's result? Power of positive thinking and all that.

played straight after a night shift, and made too many silly decisions. before the 17th I had only halved the fifth after taking four from just off the green, didn't worry about that until i rembered he had a shot, so one that got away. next hole great tee shot, then shanked oob, he was in middle of fairway so i was thinking, drop for 4 and hell be on for 2, walked over to pick my ball up, he sent a worm catcher 40 yards, that was mistake #2. then on the 17th dormie 2 i though he had a shot, so 2 from 4ft to win if i holed out, as it turned out he didn't have a shot.

next year i'm playing this comp at the weekend with a good nights sleep behind me, I went into the match full of confidence, first tee shot of the stones to 20ft of the flag, never done that before, but unfortunately down hill from there.

Region, don't panic I'll have you to keep me focused next week, we're going for a prize

In matchplay, never assume anything until the hole is over, especially against someone you're giving shots to, because they have that handicap for a reason.

Live and learn eh? ;)
