Come & have a wander round Kings Acre for free, gents.

The 15th is something else and would certainly be the source of debate on the forum.

You're right there! Half the members hate it, half of them love it.

Put it this way, I played it with 2 forumers last year (I'll save their blushes) and only one finished it. The other had a 9.

At the risk of giving away one of the above forumers name..... I think it's a shite hole

Not wathed the vids but it seems that it shows you chipping a lot John. If that's the case I will give it a miss as I am just not into horror movies :D

Only good drivers like the 15th, Dave.

;) ;) ;)

Thanks for all the comments, chaps. It's nice to see the course is getting a bit of a thumbs up, even in the drizzle.

Ray, you asked about the camcorder. I took the video with a wee Kodak zi8 I bought 2nd hand off eBay. They're about £75 new from Amazon.

As you can see (my new favourite phrase, it seems) it's about the size of an iPhone but maybe twice as thick. It weighs the same as one though so it's no bother to slip into the back pocket with your scorecard during a round. Very handy.

I like the sharpness of the video but it does suffer from camera shake. My software sorted most of that though (iMovie for the Mac). It goes up to 1080p but YouTube doesn't so I took the vids in 720p at 60fps.

It only has a digital zoom rather than optical but it's not too bad. I wasn't too disappointed with the quality when I zoomed in to the green on the 3rd hole.

And it doesn't do wide angle very well. Being so small a lens you have to be quite far away to get a full shot of yourself swinging.

The battery life is crap. A full battery lasts about 12 holes maybe. I bought 2 spares for a fiver and was on to the 3rd battery by the time I had taken all the raw footage for all 4 videos. But it all went onto a 4gb SDHC card no probs.

I think I'll be using it a lot. It's so handy and easy to use.

Really enjoyed watching that, John. Good video, editing and titling skills, even in the dour, grey conditions!

Haven't played Kings Acre for over a year and a half, but would definitely be up for a forum outing there if it gets organised.

Cheers mate.

I'm feeling the love, Del. Cheers.

Sounds like a few would be up for it. Maybe let the Macrihanish and Dalmahoy things happen and get something sorted in the summer, eh?. I'll post on the arrange a game section in plenty time. Good course, location and facilities for that sort of thing.

I was closer to the fairway than you

It was the "go for glory" shot from the bad lie was the problem. Had a clear line to the green but was OB.

Still say the par 3 16th green could have been buildt further left towards the big tree. This could have enabled the 15th to have a more natural dogleg and avoided the need for the stupid 90 degree turn and the internal OB

Still a shite hole :D

Very tempted to sign up for next year though
