Just out of interest really.

How many people have, or have tried, a combo iron set with cavity back and blades?

What do you think of them? Browsing online there's quite a few and I really like the idea of them but don't know anyone I play with to ask if reality matches up to the theory!?

Any opinions welcomed.

Me! as you may have seen...but even my so called cavities are still like blades. I'd definitely be interested in updating to a modern set as i get so much confidence from knowing i can control the ball into the green with the blade.

Had titleist zb's. Very nice. The blades in the short irons are not really the problem, it is the players cavity backed 3 and 4 iron that cause the problems. They still aren't exactly forgiving. Don't expect a combo set to have shovels as long irons, and you'll be fine.

put your own together like I did... just make sure you match the lofts if they are different.

It gives you a few more options than off the shelf combo sets

I have been thinking of doing this with my longer irons. I looked at the JPX 800 Pro irons today with the idea of getting the 5 & 4 iron. I love the shorter MP-53s and hit them really well and with a lot of confidence but I am scared of my 5 iron and have a gap in my 4 iron spot. I would need to have the lofts altered though as the JPX are 1* stronger. The other worry is the JPX are ment to be a bit hotter and longer off the face so it could blow my gaps.
