I've done a search and seen people have mentioned these before. I'm wondering has anyone got a set and what do they think?
I'm really considering on getting fitted for a set as I took the demo set out a month ago and quite liked them once I got used to them after a few holes.
My problem with a normal irons is the long irons. I can hit my 7iron down perfectly but once I start going higher my strike becomes inconsistent and I start losing then ball to the right, so to me the one length makes sense. it's a shame that cobra don't do 4-7 one then 8,9,pw as normal as that would be the perfect set in my opinion. I've asked my pro and he said no it's either one length or variable.

Buy them, ditch the 8, 9, PW and play those from your old set.

Nothing wrong with having a mix of clubs, we do it with our wedges already.

The post you write is one I could have written. I'm very much in the same boat. The biggest iron in my bag is a 7. I agree that Cobra have missed a trick not allowing a mix of one length and graduated irons.

I'm in agreement as well. Struggle a bit with my 5 and 6 sometimes and would love to try them at the same length as the 7. But I wouldn't want my 8, 9 or P to be any longer.

Why don't you bin your 5 and 6 iron. There are plenty of hybrid alternatives.

My 5 iron is a thing of the past. I have 4 and 5 iron hybrid replacements. Changed my game from 175+ yards.

I have a 22° hybrid (replaces 4 iron) in the bag, but I only hit that well about half the time at the moment as well. Generally my long game off the deck isn't as good as my short game no matter what club I'm using.

Same reply as Orikoru :). It is the length of the shaft that causes the problem. It can have an iron on the end or a hybrid head, issue is still the same.

How much better is that hybrid than your 4 iron? the same might be applied to 5 and 6 hybrids.

I could hit 10 balls with my 5iron and 5 hybrid. The hybrid will win hands down every time for strike and consistency.

Never had the 4 iron to compare. My set was 5-SW when I bought it, then I bought the hybrid because I had a big gap between the 5 iron and 5 wood. I might look at replacing the 5 iron at some stage, but I actually have other plans for my money in the short term - I'm changing my driver this week, then I'm thinking of getting a new fairway wood and a 19° hybrid to replace my current fairway woods which are old Slazenger junk.

Cool. It takes time to find the right set up. Ive been through more clubs than you've had hot dinners this last 5 years. Finally found my favourite set up. Bags been steady for around a year now.

Certainly think about a 5 I replacement in the future. Even big Ernie els dropped his for a while.

Pretty sure someone on tour even had a 27 degree ping wood in the bag recently.

I suspect the simple answer to this GiD is that you are a better ball striker than myself and Orikoru, no offence O but your h/c at 24 and mine at 21 would probably back that up. This is less so for shorter irons but once the length of the club grows we start to struggle. This is where the one length clubs come in to help. They are game helpers and you need less help than we do :D

Yeah, as I said it would just be interesting to try a shorter than normal 5 iron just to see if it's any better or not. I wouldn't go out and buy a whole set of one-length though.

I would also really like to try these cobra irons but havnt got my hands on them as of yet.

Did cobra and golf monthly give some sets out to lucky people on here? Be nice to hear how they got on?

If they didn't give any out then they missed a huge marketing trick.

They are single length for a reason. You start having 3 clubs one length then the others variable, you'll ditch them within a round or 2 as you will have issues with gapping and swing weighting total club weight etc. Tom Wishon took 2yrs to develop the Sterling single length irons to make the set work with gapping and weighting. Ive been tempted to make a set of Sterlings up to try out but they've been selling out as soon as they come in.

I understand the concept and agree with what you are saying but standing there with a 7 iron length wedge in your hand takes a some mental dexterity to overcome especially when you are so use and comfy with a shorter model. I'm sure if I had a set of Sterlings or Cobras and played a few rounds I'd get use to the longer wedges but hitting them on a range (over several sessions) didn't feel comfy
