Just a bit of info gaining

Currently we use CS and HDID but since the new updates arrived the system has been a mess and their support isn't the greatest - also we all know that HDID is a poor web front end

Has anyone ever had their club move from CS to IG

What are the positives and negatives when comparing the two

For info we use CS for tills and membership also

Any info would be great including what's it like to swap

Silloth on Solway have just gone over to intelligent golf recently, it may be worth contacting the secretay. He is very approachable and I'm sure he would be happy to have a chat about the pro's and cons.

I'll be interested in this, we were just talking about it in the Pro shop earlier today. The Pro and his assistants are keen but the committee took too long so we've just renewed for another year, apparently they had some young lad come to the club from System2000 (HDID) but couldn't answer anything as he'd just joined them, pretty much weighs them up IMO.

I know Kenilworth moved from CS to IG, a few members weren't sure at first but now are more than happy, its like everything, change is a dirty word at times until you do it and then everyone wonders what all the fuss was about.

I think they support your own club websites also?

Don't know about swapping but when I researched options several years ago for moving our club to a new system following the demise of our previous ISP I found the two systems were incomparable in all respects.

IG is a web portal based system that doesn't rely on a local computer.... anyone (authorised) can log in from any PC and manage comps. It also provides a web site for the club and a whole lot more.

C2K were a local system based handicapping/membership/bar admin/tee booking system with the HDID front end for members to view comp results and track handicaps.

One was a Rolls Royce of a system, the other a Rover. Pricing was reflective of this. C2K was in the small handful of hundreds of pounds, IG was a four figure sum for initial web set up and then a lesser 4 figure sum for annual on going fees. Obviously things will probably have changed greatly in this respect.

We eventually went with Handicapmaster, a simple handicapping and membership admin package only for less than £200 a year.... the Master scoreboard results portal is simple and effective and we never have issues with information and handicaps being wrong and competition data not uploading.

If I remember correctly Intelligent Golf have a "dummy demo account" that they can give you access to so you can get a flavour of what its all about.

We have just moved from HDID to Intelligent Golf. Early indications suggest it is a hell of a lot better. The website is more functional, with a proper members area with all details and online competition sign up etc, where it was a bit flakey before. Due to the snow we have had, the club has implemented a new till system, which will incorporate in to IG as well, so should make for a smoother process on all fronts.

So far, so good.

I hope plenty of others follow suit as HDID is utter guff. They have stagnated, refused to move with the times and the logging onto the site after a Saturday medal can be a lottery.

We switched a couple of years ago, very painless (IG migrates the data for you). For handicapping and competitions, the IG system is very easy to use - it is a bonus that you can do it all from home if you wish.
The website you get can be customised to your requirements with regards to content.
On the comps front, we have found that the system does not support everything we need/want but this may not apply to your club. An example of this is when we have a shotgun start, we want players to be able to select their playing partners but not which tee their group starts from. Overall though, we are more than happy with what it does for us.
The bar tills are also on the IG system, for this you do need a local server in case your internet connection goes down - we have had that happen once in the 2 years.

We switched to IG about 18 months ago and it is a load better than the previous system. Online booking, diary integration, ability to view where your cash in the bar has been spent and loads more. The user interface is great even the oldies love it

We have Intelligent Golf and have been using it for about 12 Months, as a user I don't have any problems with it, I can give you our secretary's details if you want to discuss in more depth

We have intelligent golf, as a club member (not a handicap secretary) I like it, especially the fact that everything is in one place - my golf history, handicaps, competition organiser, matchplay organiser, info pages, course status, bookings etc.

Just an update and also for anyone else who is on CS/HDID

We made the choice to move to IG and it is streets ahead in every way compared to CS

There is no one module where you can say CS is better

It will make life so much easier for Comp Secs, Members , Office staff etc

It may cost a touch more but it's well worth it but the product and the support you get

It's a massive step in the right direction and would recommend any club to move to IG

We made the move to IG not so long ago...the longer it is in, the better it seems to become. I posted just after we transitioned, and it hasn't let us down so far. Everything is so much easier to see, access and do.

Our club has recently upgraded to the latest version of Club Systems and it seems to work pretty well.

I'm sure that, given the nature your course ownership, you are getting a pretty good deal from CS! However, CS technology is eons out of date! Web based systems like IG or HandicapMaster are the way to go these days!

@LPP HDID is NOT a front end! It is a back end! That should highlight/resolve ny issues you have with the system!
