Mr o, the challenge tour means we have 1 week before the event off mats, then a weeks closure for the event. But in reality they are prepping all year round to be perfect for one week, so the greens are not as good as they should be, the course looks rough at times they are continually working so we play off shorter tee boxes etc. If they get a main tour event or a co sanctioned it would mean 6 weeks off mats then 1 week closure apparently. So my summer golf would be ruined, we still pay full fees and do not benefit. So far have had 3 years of euro pro, then 3 years challenge tour, I am kind of fed up.

Wow that is a downer. You would think with the revenues generated from hosting the tour events they would adjust members subs for the inconvenience.

I am not sure they actually make anything directly from the event, I feel it has served its purpose but it is run by the company side not the club side.

Two clubs. I had basically been a nomad golfer till my brother got me to join his after my divorce and then changed when I moved to Scotland. I really wouldn't want to move. I love the course and have made a good circle of friends as well.

Two as a full member. Didn't like the direction the first one was going in, being unduly influenced by/run for the minority in my opinion, so voted with my feet & walked. Curiously a number of people I played with who told me I'd regret it, the place I was going to was snobby, etc etc have followed me 4 years later.

2 in (nearly) 3 years. Was contemplating another move but have come to my senses.

Play a course that has 18 interesting holes and a really easy going membership. Not played with anyone yet who's company I haven't enjoyed.

It's 25 minutes further away than my previous club so I play less golf but it's quality, not quantity, that counts.

Only downside is all the quality gear in the prop shop!

Three. One as a junior before we moved, one for too many years when I wasn't playing and after a ten year gap my current one. Best golf at the first course, and most enjoyment at the last.

Changed clubs 11 times as I've moved around a fair bit during 48yrs of playing. However, I kept membership at one of those clubs for almost 30 yrs, returning there several times as we returned to the NE. Moved from there 2 yrs ago to another about 20 miles away because I wanted to freshen things up a bit.

Always chosen a course based on the quality of its greens and its comps board.

Only ever regretted a move twice. Both clubs were full of cliques and getting a game proved difficult.

Two clubs for me, one where I was a junior member, and then re-joined as an adult, and my current club which I moved to when I moved house.

May be a third club on the horizon due to time & financial constraints, with the new house & my young Daughter, but I'm fighting that at present!

Just the one. Joined as a junior in 1971 and stayed for 22 years. Gave up playing for 20 years due to health, started again 2 years ago and rejoined. Nice parkland course, good company, don't think I will be going anywhere else.

I've been a member of one club for around 23 years. I have considered moving but the longer you are at a place, and the more you get involved, especially socially I think the less likely that becomes. Never say never though! I've been a country member at a couple of others.

Just the one for me but due to location when I started I only had the choice of 2 so joined the one in my home town. Been a member there now for 21 years.

Since I started playing golf about twelve years ago I have been a member of the same club. I did join another club at the same time though for a couple of years on one of the offers they were making. The attraction was that they played their comps on a Friday and Sunday while my home club had theirs on a Wednesday and Saturday. Happy days , but not for long as HID didn't see the funny side with me playing all weekend.

I have previously joined new clubs because of relocation but for the first time ever i recently changed clubs within the area and have to say i did regret it and have subsequently rejoined my old club. The same reasons apply for me wanting to leave but it most definitely wasn't a case of the grass being greener !!! It's very hard to join a new golf club on your own not knowing anyone and my advice would be to join with a group of you and the transition would be much easier. I've been welcomed back at my old place with open arms which has been great.
