Club Clean Service

Seen these ultrasonic type machines and there was one at the local range. It does the grips and the heads and costs £3 a go. It was popular when installed and now stands there ignored and unused. I can see the benefit of offering the service at a corporate event but personally I'd rather do it myself (well give them to the wife) after the round. It doesn't take long and there is a sense of pride in seeing them ready for action again

Been to quite a few events where the local franchisee is there - and have used them. Clubs come up super clean, specially grips. Perhaps a good business if the bookings are there, but plan and up-front costs are the key. And nay not be an all year round business either.

Good Luck

I'd say there would be more of a market for someone offering a shoe cleaning service.

Personally I like cleaning my clubs but hate cleaning shoes (although I do)

I have to agree with Iaing, I hate cleaning my shoes and don't do it often enough but I wouldn't want anyone else cleaning my clubs. I will soon be deciding what colour I want my club numbers next year. They were black this year but thinking about doing them in either red or yellow. If I do them red I already have the enamel paint for then numbers if I do them yellow I will have to pick some up.

Had a look at videos of it last night. Looks ok. But £15,000 is a hell of a lot to pay. If you filter in fuel costs, a box trailer or van, insurances, vehicle, public liability etc, advertising, then your wages for working for a full day. You would need to bring in a lot of money to cover your initial outlay and your day to day costs. Realistically you are probably looking at 3 years of at least 2 days a week to break even.

Fair play...My wife would give me some look if I asked her to clean my clubs.

Personally...couldnt see me doing it before the round but could be persuaded to leave them with someone after the round If I had assurances they'd be ready when I was ready to go.

Also - when my mother in law comes to visit its a nice wee job that needs doing out in the garage.

I wouldn't pay.... the only person who cleaned my clubs this year was the free service they provide at East sussex National after your round, I don't even bother doing them myself, the mud eventually falls out of the grooves... well some of it does

I'd never pay for sonic cleaning... or any other for that matter, and I certainly wouldn't want to try to pay my mortgages by persuading others to have it done.

Total respect for those that take the time to scrub their clubs in the sink though.

It is very interesting to see so many comments and opinions on Ultrasonic Golf Club cleaning and it confirms that there are still many players who do not understand what it is and that you simply cannot clean clubs as efficiently and as quickly by hand. It certainly isnt just a vibrating box. To explain, Ultrasonics has been used for many years in the medical and electronic and car industry to clean equipment safely and efficiently, even jewellery, When the machine is on, millions of little bubbles are created in the water, and implode on contact with any surface, no matter how tiny and seemingly impossible to get at with any manual method such as brushing. This removes dirt and contamination immediately, even deep down into the grips which is where a lot of residual sweat and grime molecules exist. It is totally safe and does not damage clubs.

You cannot manually clean your clubs as effectively and efficiently by hand in the same time as an Ultrasonic clean. Ultrasonics also extend the life of your grips by not having to scub them. From my experience the service is either provided on a per clean basis for £5 or can be provided for free as part of Golf Day packages.

Personally to pay £5 knowing that my clubs are as clean as they can ever be and that I dont have to spend time to try and clean them myself and that I can put them away clean is a 'no brainer' for me!

I'd do it for a fiver once a month or so if it was convenient. That said, how clean do my golf clubs have to be? It's not as though I'm performing surgery with them, butchery maybe:D

Your post sounds so impartial. You really aren't trying to sell it up are you? Lol

such a cynic Phil. A new member comes on who has a positive message about ultrasonic club cleaning.

Apart from the fact that he has searched and resurrected any relevant post, and mentioned it at every opportunity, what males you think he's got a vested interest ??:D

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and has the choice to use the service or not if it is available! Was told about the post by Fish and seeing the comments just wanted to clarify, I know lots of people who have had it done and everyone has been happy with it. As for how clean clubs need to be, why bother cleaning them at all if you dont want them as clean as possible, especially after paying so much for them in the first place.

Were you :mmm:

Would you like to message me who you are please as I don't believe I have discussed this with anyone on a personal basis, unless your my wife

I have no problem in anyone clarifying what the product is capable of against a normal scrub & clean that we all do and as such your post and comments are welcome but you will have to accept that when someone new comes on board and mentions the service in 50% of their new posts, it will look rather biased, possibly ;)
