How do you care for your clubs. How often do you clean them and do you treat them with any coatings . The reason I ask is my putter has two very small rust spots on the shaft any ideas on how to get rid of them

I clean clubs after every round with warm soapy water. Then dry them.

To stop rust spots I also put a bit of WD40 on irons and shafts every now and then (maybe twice a year). Just spray some on a some kitchen paper and give them a wipe over.

They key though is never leave them in the car or garage if they have got a bit damp. Bring them indoors and dry them.

You can use fine wire wool or a scotchbrite pad to remove rust but take it easy or you will scratch the shaft.

Keep them dry at all times, keep the grooves clean and that's it.

However if you get rust get a bit of wd40 on a cloth and give the spot a rub.

Oh, one last thing, lick your thumb and rub shank marks off the neck as quickly as humanly possible!

I have put afc50 on for a try I'm getting a waterproof cover for my bag. I think the rust has come from a iorn catching the shaft

Ye, once you know you have a bare metal spot you will have to keep an eye on it. Just try keep um dry. Where do you store them?

I clean mine with soap and water every couple of weeks.

Dry and wax the shafts with a good car polish which gives some protection against bag scuffs and moisture.

Soak the heads in warm water with a bit of fairy.
Give grips a good scrub every so often.
Clubs are kept in the spare room next to the mrs's ironing board.

mine get the soapy warm water treatment every couple of rounds in summer ,but after every round if the course has been wet.The grips get the same works but maybe three times a year.
i have not found a problem with shaft rust .probably because they are kept dry at all times other than playing.the wife knows the lounge will be covered in golf clubs if its been raining.

I just use some warm soapy water and a wire brush. I do this every couple of rounds if it's dry, or after every round if it's wet or extremely muddy. I also polish the shafts with a dusting cloth, to keep them shiny :D

My last three sets of irons have been PINGs, and so far I haven't seen any rust or pitting. The only rust and pitting I've seen is on a very old PING putter, and my wedges, which are a lot older than the irons.

Washed with warm water and hand soap after each use (round or range). Left out of headcovers for half an hour in the sun to bake off any hard to dry areas

Because of the humidity rust spots can occur in a very short time here so its light wire wool to remove (will try that WD40 suggestion for when clubs are stored in the house)

The one thing I would seriously recommend is Autosol! Its a metal polish, but my god, it makes my irons look brand new! It removes all the small surface scratches and dirt off the bottom of the club. Its well worth the money, but it does leave a horrid smell on your hands for a day or two after so use some latex gloves when polishing!

Bit of warm water and fairy to loosen the dirt then use a groove sharpener to get the stubborn bits.
Never do my grips though, maybe I should

I take mine out of the car, and I stand in them in the corner of the room. With this intensive maintenance regimen so far they are surviving just fine.
