Hi

I have a bit of a dilemma.

I bought my first 460cc driver other day after a few shots with one it was a great improvement on my 320cc driver i had, but now it seems that I noticed the face is quite closed on address.

The driver I bought is an MD superstrong st2.

Will this be a big hinderance in the future, and should I be getting rid of it and get a neutral or straight faced driver?

I dont want to be having to relearn my swing due to using a closed driver, but am I just being a bit worried for nothing??

Thanks

I have a G15 draw bias, its 2* closed from what I understand. It was required when I first took up the game but now I am much better. I find all I have to do is aim down the right side of the fairway a bit more. No real hinderance and when my game is on I KNOW I am going to get a nice mild draw, big comfort in competitions!

Just point it square at the target and hit it as normal. When you open it slightly - to make the face square - it'll add a touch more loft, which normally helps the results.

As Bob implies, it's the results that count.

Thanks for your replies.

My ball can go straight yes. Ha.

The face makes me want to address the ball at an angle.

I am working on getting a neutral grip and think maybe looking at the face on address makes me alter this grip.

I will give it a go again today.

Can a driver like that be adjusted? Or is it only the likes of the R11 or any of the adjustable drivers
Could a club pro adjust the face angle of that so it more square?

I bought a Cleveland launcher 2009 driver and the face is visibly toe'd in or closed, not sure what degree but it work for me, goes straight ish so not a wprry.

Not without a special ferrule designed to do that. Opening the face will also increase the loft of the club - not necessarily a bad thing as a lot of people play with drivers that don't have enough loft for them anyway. The closed face is designed to help golfers with an out to in swing, as one of the posters above said in aiming down the right more.

The key thing is for the OP to get used to the look and not try to 'help' the face at address by compensating and negating the draw bias.
