I tend to shave before a big competition or match but looking at the pro's perhaps I shouldn't. Got round 1 of the Club Championships on Saturday and wondering if i should shave or not. What's everybody else's experience? Advice needed!

Does anybody find that not shaving help lengthen and keep your drives straight or your putts straight and true?

Is there an optimum length of stubble.... what's the secret with these guys?

I find I need to shave the night before. If not it's too long and irritates, if I shave in the morning it gets irritated by perspiration.

The joys, eh?

I shave and look smart- if I feel like a golfer I'll play like one............type attitude.

If playing badly I'll pluck my hairs as a punishment

I rock the beard and I play all the better for it! I find I get extra greenside spin with the beard also...;-)

As my electric razor packed up this morning I might have an answer by later today. I might be playing in mixed greensomes this afternoon. The only problem is that the ladies I generally get to play with obviously go with this theory, as most of them have more stubble than me!

Don't shave until you win something. Problem solved. I am in the process of growing a proper wizard beard.

Seriously though, I usually go with a goatee cut to about a 2 or 3 on my philips electric and then take the rest off with no guard in place. Rarely wet shave. When it's long under the chin I usually can tell if I'm dropping my head to much because I can feel it on my chest.
