Just recently with the really hard fairways the mud is almost like compact dust and I'm finding it hard to keep the grooves clean whilst playing.

I've tried using a tee but it goes blunt in a couple of grooves time. I also have one of those 3-in-1 plastic jobbies with the brass bristles and it seems as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike!

Does anyone use anything on the course for cleaning grooves that can be fixed to a bag or carried easily in a pocket that they'd recommend?

Thanks.

Snap or find a wooden tee that as not snapped cleanly, then when is wears down it's still thin enough.

Another thing I have seen is, we have a hair dresser at our club that carries a water pray bottle like you would use for hairdressing or gardening. He just sprays each club and wipes it as he goes. It's a great way to do it if you can be bothered.

Wet golf towel plus a tee works fine for me. As Alex says sometimes a broken (wooden) tee works better as the broken ends can get into the groves better. If it's really claggy I slosh a bit of water on the club face from my water bottle.

I always have a small towel on my belt to clean the grooves after using one of the 3 in 1 brushes. Seems to work.
Do you also have a chipper and use the pink plastic castle tees? :D :D :D :D :D

Hey! Lay off the tees chipper boy. :D :D

I carry a screw in my bag, as on many of our tee's you get red grit, and no matter what brush water etc you try it wont shift.

Screw just flicks it out then same as every1 else touch of water and towel to wipe over.

I would keep away from the brass brushes as they will help wear out the sharpness on the grooves. Nylon brush or wooden tees. If it doesn't come out easily a bit of water!spit will soften it in a couple of seconds, then try again.

I always liked my cheap 3-in-1 club bristle doobries.
I have 2 or 3 in my bag and use them quite often to clear out the dusty summer mud. :D

I can only guess at 14-3 unless I can be arsed to go outside to my bag.
Why would a brush to clean grooves be considered artificial equipment (or whatever it is).
