Cigar while playing?

so what your saying is dont take drugs or you will turn into a religious nut? ;)

No just making the point that it depends on your personality if you become easily obsessed or addicted to something then it will have to replaced by something else. My grandad has never drank alcohol or smoked a day in his life but he plays golf 6 days a week he also retired from work early to play more golf he says himself that if he didn't have golf them he'd be an alcoholic

I see your point and it is justifiable, it is entirely possible that it was exaggerated to discourage (the point of the whole campaign) but this is what he told me it went from Smoking to weed to ecstasy then onto cocaine when his parents finally stopped him. Although he does have an addictive personality he has now become an evangelical Christian not that there is anything wrong with that. But it may be something to be aware of

Still think you'll find that it was more a social issue than a substance one if you get me. Addictive personality is an excuse when the addicition is bad. Everyone has a form of addiction. Anyway, I'm glad to see you at least have managed to keep away from some of the less healthy vices out there. Just be careful how you discourage others. Exaggeration of risks, no matter how small, ultimately invalidates the viewpoint, removes all trust in future information and causes more harm than good.

I think you and I would have an interesting conversation on the course Landog

I'll stop the hijack now :blah:

I remember seeing James with a big fat cigar sticking out of his mouth once. I told him he looked like a film star. "Who?" he asked, "Clint Eastwood? Arnie?"
"No, Lassie having a sh1t"

My playing partner actually keeps a cigarette in his mouth whilst playing a shot - he says that he knows he has completed his back swing when he burns his shoulder

I sit smugly in the " never tried a cigarette in my life, not even a puff on one" camp! In fact I wouldn't go and buy them for me old mum or hold one, or sit near an ashtray, and definitely no girlfriends would be smokers!

What I wonder though is, all the money that not smoking has saved me - where is it?

Your legally allowed when you are 16

Sort of correct... There's no legal 'smoking age', just the limit on when you're legally allowed to buy tobacco products, which in the UK is 18.

But MiniTiger, seriously, don't smoke. Just don't. If I had read the thread properly and realised that you're just a kid I'd have had a significantly different answer first time around. And don't try to justify it by saying that you're good in comparison to 'some people your age'. Try to be the best you can be, you can't be the best when you've got COPD.

Still doesn't make it right though, does it. I'm 17 I don't smoke, don't do drugs and I don't plan to I detest them. Ive had to interview an ex-drug addict for an anti-drugs campaign he was do bad he actually had a knife to his dad's throat at one stage, and smoking cigars at aged 16 seems to be an ideal way to start on slippery path to destruction for the guy I interviewed it all started for him by smoking on street corners. Although it does depend if you have an addictive personality. Personally I'd strongly oppose it. It's not a necessity to your life is it?
Im sorry but having a cigar when I pass an exam, or am at a BBQ or just made a birdie, will not lead me to stabbing my family members, or become a heroine addict, obviously its not a neccesity, neither is a lot of things...

So your saying if you yourself started smoking cigars now on occasions you will soon have a knife to your parents throat? pleaaaaaase

I think considering each one was around 6 months apart, it might prove that i havent got an addictive personality, and wont turn to heroine within a month killing people?

Of course you won't.
This is the biggest decision you've had to make in your life so far.
Don't make the stupid choice.

Deaf ears I guess :(

Look, with all the evidence that proves smoking is so dangerous why the hell do you want to risk your life? I have rarely ever met anyone who doesn't regret starting smoking, and, as a young man with the wealth of knowledge around these days why would you ignore the dangers and please don't come back with ..... it's only one now and again, because that well may be the one that triggers the cancer that could end you life prematurely!

Not nice to read but ........ hey ho!

If you wanna smoke, then smoke.

If you ask the questions and take all the information and advice on board, and still decide to smoke, then you're an idiot.

Cigars are filth. Smell lovely, but why at 16 would you want to partake in that crap? It's an old man's pastime.
