Cigar while playing?

The bloke who gave him a cigar was encouraging him! and it's not really a free world if you are 16 unfortunately. If I dropped my lad off at the golf club and one of his 4 ball gave him a cigar I'd be slightly annoyed.
:(
That said I must be a hypocrite as I have had one whilst playing. I once burnt a hole in my golf bag with one. The ground was wet & I rested it on my bag between shots. They seem like a good idea but always a bit of a disappointment in reality. I'd rather have a pipe !
Your legally allowed when you are 16, Trust me the odd cigar will seem like candy cigarettes compared to what other people do at my age, id say around 10% of people my age have about 4 cans of red bull a day, at least a third a 10+ a day smokers, and then there are a lot of people on a lot of different drugs, including the people that sell them, someone that used to go to my school at 15 got £300+ for their birthday and spent it all on drugs, obviously they are getting nowhere. A cigar now and again is not as bad as people think.

+ I dont do any of the things above and i hate the smell of cigarettes so they are a no no.

on another and possibly slightly disturbing note i also liked the smell of the old petrol car exhausts, i remeber standing at the busy junctions just sniffing....strange youth

thats brought back memories. I used to love that smell when I was young. I don't think there's any side effe ......What were we talking about again?

I'm not going to preach to you. I genuinely think the legal age is smoke is now 18, that said it's up to you.

However you can't rationalise it by saying 'it's ok 'cos my mates do crack and that's worse'. They both will do you in. One cigar won't do much damage, 100 may do. It's easier to start than stop.

here endth the middle aged fella being patronising ;)

A third of 16 year olds are smoking 10 + cigs a day ? I don't think so.
And Im quite sure that the legal age Is 18, not 16.

To be honest when I think of cigars, I think of a biker. Like this guy

nope you have to be 18 to buy cigars but can smoke them under that age, and you will be suprised how many kids smoke without there parents knowing.

Not so bad if you happened to be there... disturbing if you actually planned a 'special visit' to the junction  ............worse if you took sarnies and a blanket!

Still doesn't make it right though, does it. I'm 17 I don't smoke, don't do drugs and I don't plan to I detest them. Ive had to interview an ex-drug addict for an anti-drugs campaign he was do bad he actually had a knife to his dad's throat at one stage, and smoking cigars at aged 16 seems to be an ideal way to start on slippery path to destruction for the guy I interviewed it all started for him by smoking on street corners. Although it does depend if you have an addictive personality. Personally I'd strongly oppose it. It's not a necessity to your life is it?

I'm in the anti-smoking camp myself, despite being a smoker I do want to quit just wish it was easy. On saying that, it is highly unlikely smoking was what lead him on that path. The real reason is probably the one that had him hanging around on street corners in the first place. I actually moved to cigarettes after getting addicted to nicotine from smoking joints. Stopped the weed (it was easy) but the nicotine isn't so easy to give up.

I see your point and it is justifiable, it is entirely possible that it was exaggerated to discourage (the point of the whole campaign) but this is what he told me it went from Smoking to weed to ecstasy then onto cocaine when his parents finally stopped him. Although he does have an addictive personality he has now become an evangelical Christian not that there is anything wrong with that. But it may be something to be aware of
