thats me finally a cat 1 golfer now:D how long i stay there is another thing:mmm:

i played in the 3rd rnd qualifying for our club championship, ours is best 2 out of 3 and i made a mistake with dates and missed the 2nd round but the pressure wasn't really on as the scores weren't that great.

i already had a +9 75 so i reckon even a +14 would see me through.

i got off to a blinder, birdie par birdie start and made bogeys at the 5th and 7th to go back to level.i then made a bogey at the easy 8th and par'd the 9th for a +34 front 9.

the back 9 wasn't as good but i missed birdie chance after chance so my game was really good for once.of late it's been poor and before going out i had a wee lesson of one of the players.it done me wonders as the last week i was as usual on the brink of giving up as everything was bad.

the only bad part of my game last night was my short game,i could of easily been 2 or 3 better because of this,i got up and down once which is not like me.

i also lipped out for eagle on the last and had about 6ft left for a +3 69 but once again i lipped out for the birdie.

so this is where it gets tough, only .1 cuts so time to concentrate and play a bit more, more gents opens etc.

Great stuff Wull, well done.

Just because of the spread of handicaps we have a fair few broke 100, 90, 80 etc and made it to single figures, but not many making it to Cat1. Nice one.

Well played mate, how much practice have you put in to get to this stage ? I still dream of getting to 18.

funnily enough not that much.i planned on playing all the time but of late i've been playing on average once a week.the last week was busier though with a team match on the friday, texas scramble on the saturday then the game last night.

i played terrible in the team match and texas scramble hitting some real bad shots but maybe the two days worth of golf was enough to get me back on track.i was well focused last night and played much better striking the ball way better than previous.
