Are you ready for it? I thought I was but I've decided that my present for the wife was a bit mean, (Go Kart and Sun mountain bag off e bay) so now I am starting again. Associated bits required to make Jamie Olivers Christmas Dinner :thup:(see DVD) have been ordered from the butcher. Groceries will be picked up probably on the Friday / Saturday before the big day. Xmas sweater purchased from Asda yesterday for club scramble on Sunday. Wine Cellar (kitchen floor) fully stocked with 16 bottles, although this will dwindle after this Sundays dinner. I hope that's all, but I'm sure something will be forgotten. :D

I'm cooking this year for six, I really enjoy it.
Lady Doon has been told to butt out but somehow I can't see her not telling me I'm doing 'that' all wrong.

After 40 years of cooking Christmas [- one year at a Highland Hotel], we spent the last two Christmi at my eldest daughter's spacious farmhouse and enjoyed a lovely relaxed time.
Unfortunately they are going away this Christmas. :(

I think Christmas day is such a magical time even at 48. Cant wait for some young'uns in the household for the sheer electric excitement they bring. Looking forward to cook the dinner again with the family contributing/bringing stuff for the feast, it will be only 5 of us this year but will raise a toast for missed ones in fancy dress.

Yeah I'm ready for it, bring it on Love it.

Got badly told off for suggesting that Xmas Dinner is only "Sunday Roast" with turkey in for beef and a sprouts etc.... when actually, that's exactly what it is! :D

One year I'll convince my wife to say "nuts to it" and spend the week in the West Indies or similar. Failed miserably so far!

Different one for us this year. In a nice hotel in Durham(4 nights) with some of the family, then off visiting others. Finishing the shopping tomorrow, with only about half a doz presents left to buy. I do the first round the UK present run next weekend.

Prep for me is largely around preping church for Christmas services. Lead into Christmas day for me really gets going this Sunday with our Carol Service - with me in the back row grumbling along a bass/baritone line (further rehearsal required)...still makes for a lovely service.

Then on Christmas Eve we troop along to the Christingle service. Christmas Day for me starts with Midnight Service and Communion - at midnight :) We share the service with the congregation of our local Methodist Church with whom we are joining congregations in 2018. Exciting times ahead for the joint congregation. Then later that morning off for all family service at 10am - great fun - with children and adults - bringing along a present we have received. I'll not be getting much - we kind of keep pressies to a minimum at Christmas these days now that the children are older - though my daughter will no doubt have a shed load from her pals :) Mrs SILH has already bought my present to her - so my preparation is done.

We'll do a bit of food and drink shopping in the days up to Christmas - nothing much done yet as we don't even know if we're going to be having my MiL down...Mrs SILHs brother is home from Far East and may not have headed back before Christmas - so they may stay at MiLs for Christmas Day. Might be just three of us on Christmas Day - and I'll be doing the cooking - I do quite enjoy doing the turkey with all the trimmings.

Think next year we'll maybe take ourselves off for Christmas to a hotel we know in the Trossachs and where we love our stays.

Around Christmas day morning to see the kids and better half open presents, then off to work.
Could you check that Simon is ok ?:)

When my kids wake up Christmas morning they will be faced with everything they could ever dream of. I've got them an Argos catalogue each.

Good shout Richart. Should always check on the elderly at Christmas. Guess Guy is also coming to you?

Out this year with the In Laws after cooking it all last year. We had only bought our house on 30th November last year so it was very hectic. Nothing like that this year mind! Got MiL staying Christmas Eve and will probably have a curry and then to a local pub for christmas lunch on the big day so no washing up! then back to our house for cheese wine and potentially a fiesty game of trivial pursuit!

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail , been prepared for weeks if not months

Presents wrapped and under the tree. Wife takes care of all presents bar her own which I had wrapped and under the tree on December 1st

Got a couple weeks off work before Xmas so doing lots of family stuff with little one

Avoiding the shops and the underprepared like the plague

It will go past in a blur, but, it'll be good fun. I'm on a hiding to nothing as I got Mrs DCB a wee dog last Christmas. Not going to beat that, so it might be me who end up in the doghouse ;) Looking forward to the time off as work has been full on this autumn. Christmas day will be with family through in the West, New Year will be more restful at home, but still fitting in time with the other half of the family.
