Christmas Day

Hotel booked for Christmas Eve, all I have to do is wake up Christmas morning and make the short journey to Hunstanton where, at 1030am, I will witness some idiots go in the sea before heading to the social club for a driink or two. Then back to my parents place for dinner, returning to Kings Lynn in the evening fo nother night in the hotel then return home Boxing Day.

As DCB above, looking forward to some time away from work to wind down and de-stress. Christmas Eve will be a day of food preparation with various people dropping in for a drink throughout the day. Me and the wife will then settle down in front of the TV come the evening with some nice food and drink.
Christmas day is all about the food, the company, and of course, the drink.
Up bright and early Boxing Day for 18 before lunch , although I will have to get a taxi to the club due to still being topped up with Christmas Cheer! (It's only a 5 minute drive so shouldn't cost the earth in a cab)

Ready?

In a word... No

No food bought
No presents bought
No decs/tree up
No booze bought
No idea what we'll do on Christmas day yet or xmas eve

Saw a big tree driving past shopping centre last night which was my first sight of Xmas so far this year

Ideally I'll go play an early round of golf (if the course is open) then head to the beach for a couple of hours and then get lunch somewhere with friends

It will go past in a blur, but, it'll be good fun. I'm on a hiding to nothing as I got Mrs DCB a wee dog last Christmas. Not going to beat that, so it might be me who end up in the doghouse ;) Looking forward to the time off as work has been full on this autumn. Christmas day will be with family through in the West, New Year will be more restful at home, but still fitting in time with the other half of the family.

The only thing better than one dog is two :-)

I dont do presents at Christmas (or Birthdays in fact), the Mrs sorts all that stuff out..... I pay for our holidays each year and our sons school tuition.

All I need to do on Christmas day is turn up and not be too grumpy.

I'm a little disappointed, but tbh not surprised, that no-one here seems to have a visit to church on Midnight Christmas Eve or on Christmas Day planned. I might suggest that it's always worth a try as church at Christmas is a joyous place; the songs are great; and we all can do with a little bit of spiritual uplift from time to time. With all our rushing around in the lead up to Christmas, a pause just before to reflect; and then on Christmas morning to share our togetherness and new toys - always a hoot.

But whatever we are doing on Christmas Day - whether we have any feelings at all for what it's about or whether we reject it totally - we can all enjoy a lovely day :)

Yep all sorted. Currently have 2 very excited girls, one 6 and one 5 who don't know they're getting a karaoke machine !!!!! We must be mad !! Just the 4 of us this year, we'll get the rugrats shipped off to bed at 7.30ish and me and mrs drewster will then open our presents to each other. Log burner on, some bourbon and some tunes.

A shout out for all the people who will be working on Christmas Day whether they are saving us, serving us, guarding us, thank you. At least I don't have to work until Boxing Day.

I have on several occassions attended the midnight service on Christmas Eve at the Episcopal church where my mum lives and Church of Scotland where I used to live. This is despite being pretty much a non-believer (but open to being proved otherwise!) and I've found it is a nice sociable thing to do, almost fun even. It was normally my only trip to church in the year bar weddings and funerals. Haven't done it for several years now but when I'm older and kids are independent and if I'm spared I shall try to attend again for my annual dose, it is a nice thing to partake in, faith or no faith.

They are fun, even can be I think for non-believers. A Nine Lessons and Carols Service is also a nice one to go along to for ye of little or no faith as you don't get a minister droning on. Just a telling of the Christmas Story interspersed with carols many of us know and love - some good tunes to belt out also.

Great, what time shall I turn up for the Karaoke?

My daughter is knocking about with one of the Assistant Pros at my club - a lad I've known for 14+yrs since he was a junior. Gonna be a bit weird if she invites him round on Christmas day - which I think she will.

Food still to buy although all meat has been ordered from the local butcher. Tree and decorations are still in loft but they will be dragged out on Saturday. HID presents are mostly purchased, the others are still hiding on the internet somewhere. I will make the most of Xmas day, albeit alcohol free for the first time ever since 1980. Boxing day is blood tests, and the 27th is chemo number 6 of 8. Roll on Xmas 2018 so that I can celebrate in style.
