I play almost exclusively 10 minute games. Not sure what the +88 mean tbh. There's loads of the things on there I don't understand. :D

I've worked myself up to 751 which is 15 points away from my all time high at rapid games. Have sent you a friend request!
So the higher the number the better you ?

i have to pay $50 per month! is that correct?

No no no. You must have misunderstood something. Here's the price plan for the different memberships.

Yeah, the higher the better. You'll see the "grand masters" at like 2,500 and upwards I think it is. Magnus Carlsen is ranked no1 in all different variations I believe on chess.com

OK. I do not understand but I had 2 castles, a knight and 4 pawns against a bishop and 2 pawns. Ran out of time so I guess I am the loser. What would VAR done?

I haven't played for years but, bizarrely perhaps, I enjoy watching the Champions Chess Tour which is covered by Chess24 on YouTube. Not much idea what they are discussing, but there's something about listening to Petr Leko that makes me feel relaxed.

Been on a purple patch the last 2 days and now have 11 wins on the trot, which have taken my ranking up to 803 - a new personal best.

So weird. Had a decent spell a few days back also, but then suddenly I seemed to forget how to play completely and lost I believe 9 on the spin before stabilising and working my way up the ranking again.

Life is weird sometimes…just found myself reading about the Nimzo-Indian defence and Queens Gambit Accepted. Too much, too much. Golf is easy.

I’m assuming this ended up a stalemate because I ran out of time?
I was the whites ??
If it is black’s term, they don’t have a move. That ends the game in a draw.

I used to play a little when I was much younger. Got a chess computer from Aldi about 25 years ago and could beat it on a low setting but not any higher than that. My GF in university trashed it on the highest setting. But she was ranked in Germany.

If tou had moved your Bishop to e6 and kept checking I THINK you should have won soon. Not an expert but if black is NOT in check now and if is only move is into check I thought it became stalemate. Somebody will give tou the correct answer.

Sorry for being an idiot, I still don’t understand ??
Surely I’d win, it was the second game in a row it happened….

brian, it states at the top that it is a stalemate. this is because The King is not in check NOW but if he moves he will be in check. If it was white to move OR you had moved your Bishop to where I said rather than C8 you would have been OK as black would have been in check and within 2 moves you would have won.

i would call it a psychological victory but black will disagree. Hope this helps

Basically you have to put them in check, they wouldn’t put themselves in that position ?

Getting a draw with just the king is a moral victory for black.

Is there a rule for a draw when the same moves are repeated for a couple of times as well?

Maybe I should join the chess craze as well (minus the beads). Started sudoku since stopping wordle.

I loved sudoku, normally the hardest levels, it’s probably easier than Wordle as it’s strategic, Wordle to a point is guess work ?

Player can claim a draw if the same move is repeated 3 times.

I agree it is perhaps a moral victory for Black but White should never have let the situation arise. Wise after the event
